The video above share the benefits and joy of a puppy yoga class.
As Barktoberfest 2025 gets underway, attendees can begin their day with Puppy Yoga at Downtown Cary Park. This special event features a 30-minute puppy meet-and-greet starting at 8:30 a.m. (today), followed by a one-hour yoga session led by local instructors from Pura Vida Studio.
The event includes adoptable dogs from Hope Animal Rescue, a nonprofit that works to rescue and rehabilitate abandoned dogs throughout North Carolina. The organization is entirely volunteer-run and focuses on giving dogs in need a second chance.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own mats for the yoga session. While some equipment will be available on-site, supplies are limited. The event offers a unique combination of wellness and community engagement, all in support of local animal rescue efforts.
Puppy Yoga takes place at the DCP Academy Pavilion in Downtown Cary and is part of a larger lineup of Barktoberfest activities.
Barktoberfest is a fun-filled series of programs and events celebrating our favorite four-legged friends. Throughout September and early October, dog lovers can enjoy classes and programs like puppy yoga, pet portrait painting, and so much more.
Just curious…

Cary Residents Voice Pedestrian Safety Concerns
In response to the fatal accident involving 84-year-old Anthony Brancaccio, Cary Spotlight asked readers how safe they feel walking in Cary. A combined 66% of responses expressed some level of concern, with 35% saying they feel “somewhat safe” but believe certain intersections require attention, and 31% indicating they feel unsafe due to a lack of pedestrian infrastructure.
Only 19% of respondents said they feel “very safe,” while 12% rarely walk and 3% selected “Other.” In their comments, residents named several problematic intersections and cited frequent issues such as speeding, distracted driving, and missing sidewalks—especially in residential neighborhoods.
The feedback suggests that pedestrian safety in Cary is a multifaceted issue. While some areas are well-equipped, many residents believe the town still has significant gaps. Beyond physical infrastructure, many comments also highlight the need for stronger enforcement and shared responsibility between drivers and pedestrians.
This poll underscores the community’s growing awareness that safer walking conditions depend not just on sidewalks and crosswalks but also on driver attentiveness and proactive planning. View Original Article (Issue# 701)
Readers Appreciate Full Range of Town Services
A Cary Spotlight poll asked residents to name the public service they value most. Clean water and sewer systems led with 33.8% of the vote, followed by emergency response services at 22.5%. Greenways and parks earned 18.3%, with roads, civic engagement, and other responses rounding out the results.
Comments from readers suggest that many found it hard to choose just one service, citing the interdependence of infrastructure, safety, and quality-of-life amenities. Long-term planning for greenways and the reliability of everyday services like trash collection received special mention.
The responses point to a strong appreciation for Cary’s comprehensive approach to public services. Residents recognize that maintaining a high quality of life depends on a balance of essentials and enhancements.
Overall, the poll illustrates that while infrastructure and emergency services are front-of-mind, Cary’s broader service ecosystem is widely appreciated.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
Maine is the U.S. state closest to Africa, specifically to the northwestern coast of Morocco. This might come as a surprise, but due to the curvature of the Earth and the angle of the eastern seaboard, a straight line drawn from Quoddy Head, Maine—the easternmost point of the continental United States—extends across the Atlantic and reaches Africa before touching any other continent. This geographic fun fact highlights just how interconnected the world really is.
