Cary Residents Invited to Comment on September Rezoning Cases
The Cary Town Council will hold a regular meeting on September 25, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 316 N. Academy Street. The meeting will include three public hearings on rezoning requests.
The first case, 24-REZ-14, involves 8.7 acres at 7001 Weston Parkway. The applicant is seeking to amend a portion of the Weston Planned Development District to allow up to 275 multi-family units, 22 townhouses, and 5,000 square feet of commercial or neighborhood recreation space.
The second case, 25-REZ-01, concerns 6708 Bandelier Lane. The applicant has requested to rezone the property from Office Research and Development to Residential 20 Conditional Use. The change would permit one detached dwelling with accessory uses, while maintaining the Jordan Lake Watershed Protection Overlay.
The third case, 25-REZ-09, addresses 0.45 acres at 1505 Fairbanks Road. The proposal would rezone the land from Residential 20 to Residential 8 Conditional Use. Zoning conditions include right-of-way dedication, road improvements, two-car garages, and electrical wiring to support future electric vehicle charging.
Residents may provide written comments before noon on the meeting date through the 311 Portal, by email to [email protected], or by mail to the Town Clerk’s Office. Comments submitted after noon will be sent to council members as regular correspondence. Verbal comments are also allowed during the hearing; residents must sign up by calling 919-469-4000 before noon on September 25. Those who plan to call in should confirm with staff by 5 p.m. on the meeting day. The meeting will be streamed on Cary’s YouTube channel, Cary TV, and the Agenda and Minutes Portal.

Late Goals Fuel Big Moments for Courage and NCFC
A pair of road matches brought thrilling finishes for Cary’s pro soccer teams this weekend, as both the North Carolina Courage and North Carolina FC earned points in dramatic fashion.
Weekend Highlights:
North Carolina Courage edged the Orlando Pride 1–0 on Friday night thanks to Shinomi Koyama’s 89th-minute winner, her first NWSL goal. The midfield finish capped a gutsy performance that also included a goal-line clearance from Maycee Bell and a debut-saving block from Natalie Jacobs. With the win, the Courage climbed above the playoff line.
North Carolina FC drew 2–2 with the Tampa Bay Rowdies Saturday in a wild finish. Oalex Anderson, in his 150th USL match, scored his 50th career goal in the dying seconds of stoppage time to steal a point. Evan Conway had opened the scoring with his team-leading eighth goal of the year.
Cary's clubs keep making headlines—and proving they know how to finish with flair.
