Miss America Title Goes to Air Force Officer, A First in Pageant History

Second Lt. Madison Marsh, representing Colorado, was crowned Miss America 2024, becoming the first active-duty service member to win the title.

A U.S. Air Force Academy graduate with a degree in physics, Marsh has been actively involved in community service and public speaking. She founded the Whitney Marsh Foundation to raise funds for pancreatic cancer research, a cause close to her heart.

Marsh is also pursuing a master's degree in public policy at Harvard Kennedy School, balancing her educational ambitions with her responsibilities as Miss America. Read Full Story

Tragic Loss of Theta Chi Member Shakes NC State Community

Matthew Haynes, a 21-year-old NC State University student and Theta Chi fraternity member, tragically died last week from an apparent suicide.

His death has prompted heartfelt tributes from the fraternity and his best friend, Jonathan Roberts. 

Haynes was remembered for his kindness, passion for the outdoors, and love for his family and friends. His unexpected passing has brought attention to the issue of student suicides at NC State, with the university community mourning his loss.

In the 2022-2023 academic year, NC State has reported the loss of seven students to suicide, a somber reminder of the mental health challenges facing our student community. See video report
