A Plea for Respect: Cary's Struggle to Preserve Its New Park
Cary's new park faces severe damage due to public misuse, with over a thousand plants and trees needing replacement. Community member Lindsey Chester calls for a change in attitude, urging residents to respect and care for the park as they would their own property.
Lindsey Chester post in Downtown Cary group, “Please respect the park. I was told that more than 1000 plants and trees will need to be replaced because of the rough use they have received in the first 2 months since opening. Kids pulling branches off trees and people trampling through planted beds.
Teach your kids to respect nature and our public facilities and as parents lead by example. it was heard quoted that ”my taxes paid for this park, I’ll do what I want”.
How inconsiderate of others. Don’t we want this gem to shine? Treat the park like you would your own property and nurture and respect it so we can all continue to enjoy its beauty. “
Editor’s note: the extent of the damage has not been independently verified.
