Three Rescued From Icy Ponds as Wake County Urges Caution

Emergency crews rescued three people from frozen ponds over the weekend, prompting renewed warnings from Wake County officials about the dangers of walking on ice. The incidents occurred in Holly Springs and Cary within a span of two days.
In Holly Springs, an 11 year old boy fell through thin ice at Womble Pond and was submerged for several minutes before being rescued by a police officer. Officials credited quick action by a bystander and first responders for preventing a tragedy.
The following day in Cary, a child and an adult neighbor fell through ice on a retention pond and were saved using a rope. Both survived without serious injuries.
Authorities stressed that ice rarely freezes thick enough in North Carolina to support weight and warned that cold water shock and heavy clothing can quickly turn a rescue attempt into a life threatening situation.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
A: The Basenji, often called "Africa's Barkless Dog,"
The Basenji, often called "Africa's Barkless Dog," is the breed known for yodeling instead of barking. Due to an unusually shaped larynx, these small, intelligent, and cat-like hunters produce a unique sound called a "baroo" or yodel. They are ancient hounds that also communicate through whimpers and howls.
