Snow Forecast Prompts Pre-Treatment of Roads Across Central NC
With snow in the forecast for Sunday, transportation crews across central North Carolina began brining roads on Friday to prevent ice formation. The NCDOT and local departments, including in Garner, are treating major routes and trouble spots in advance of the potential storm.
Although snowfall is expected to be light, officials are emphasizing caution, particularly due to the risk of black ice after the storm passes. NCDOT teams will remain on standby following the brining process and are ready to shift to plowing or salting if necessary.
Local officials believe accumulation will likely be limited, but preparation efforts reflect a cautious approach to changing winter conditions. Residents are also taking steps, with many staying off the roads and stocking up on supplies for the weekend.
While the severity of the weather remains uncertain, transportation officials say they are fully prepared to handle anything from a light dusting to a few inches of snow, urging the public to remain vigilant and travel safely.

Cary Residents Split on Confidence in Town’s Handling of Stegall Investigation
😐 49% of respondents said they are not confident in how Cary leadership is managing the investigation into former Town Manager Sean Stegall. Many cited concerns over transparency and accountability in the process.
How Residents Feel:
31% are somewhat confident, noting that their trust depends on how the investigation continues to unfold.
18% feel very confident, believing the town is handling the matter responsibly.
2% are unsure, saying they need more information before forming an opinion.
Representative Reader Comments:
“The elected officials, especially the mayor, who were in office when Mr. Stegall was hired should step aside. It’s the only way to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest.”
“More facts and details are needed. I feel like there's a lot more negative activity that will unfold as time goes on.”
“I don’t understand why he was paid $400,000 in taxpayer money before the investigation concluded. If wrongdoing is found, we’ll never recover that money.”
These responses follow a wave of public reaction to Issue #809 of Cary Spotlight, which detailed Stegall’s departure, active audits, and the town’s new efforts toward openness through a digital transparency portal.
