Donate Your Tree to Help Improve Wake County Parks
Wake County residents can once again recycle their Christmas trees through the Happy Trails Christmas Tree Recycling project, now in its 14th year. Since its inception, the program has collected nearly 60,000 trees, which are turned into mulch for local park trails in need of restoration. The initiative allows residents to responsibly dispose of their trees at no cost while supporting the county’s park system.
From December 26, 2025, through January 31, 2026, undecorated trees can be dropped off daily between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the following convenience centers:
3600 Yates Mill Pond Road, Raleigh
10505 Old Stage Road, Garner
6120 Old Smithfield Road, Apex
5051 Wendell Blvd. (U.S. 64 Business), Wendell
In addition, several county parks will accept trees from 8 a.m. to sunset:
Blue Jay Point County Park, 3200 Pleasant Union Church Road, Raleigh
Green Hills County Park, 9300 Deponie Drive, Raleigh
Lake Crabtree County Park, 1400 Aviation Parkway, Morrisville
Beech Bluff County Park, 3321 NC Highway 42, Willow Spring
Harris Lake County Park, 2112 County Park Drive, New Hill
All sites will be closed on January 1 for New Year’s Day. The program accepts only natural, undecorated trees.
Just curious…

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
A: Samuel Langhorne Clemens
Mark Twain was the pen name of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, one of America’s most famous writers and humorists. He adopted the pen name from his days as a Mississippi riverboat pilot, where "mark twain" meant a safe depth of two fathoms (12 feet) for the steamboat, and went on to write classics like The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, becoming a foundational voice in American literature.
