NC Courage Return Home and Celebrate Club Legend Jessica McDonald
Soccer is back in Cary as the North Carolina Courage host Seattle Reign FC in their first home match of the 2025 season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Saturday at WakeMed Soccer Park. But the match is only part of what makes the night special.
Following the game, the Courage will induct Jessica McDonald into the team’s Ring of Honor, making her the second player to receive the distinction. McDonald was a cornerstone of the Courage during their most dominant years and has long been a leading voice for equity in women's athletics. Her recognition comes as the club looks ahead to a new season while also honoring the foundation built by players like her.
The evening serves as a reminder of how far the women’s game has come in North Carolina—and how players like McDonald have helped pave the way.
Just curious…

Airport Boulevard Closes for Diverging Diamond Project Through Monday

Airport Blvd. near RDU (Credit: CBS17)
A section of Airport Boulevard near Interstate 40 is closed this weekend as construction crews work to convert the interchange into a diverging diamond—a modern traffic design intended to improve both flow and safety.
The closure, which began Friday, is part of a $34 million infrastructure project led by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). While the main portion of Airport Boulevard is temporarily closed, right-turn access to and from the I-40 ramps remains open. The full reopening is scheduled for 5 a.m. on Monday, March 24.
The diverging diamond design, already in use at three other locations across the Raleigh-Durham area, shifts traffic briefly to the opposite side of the road to eliminate traditional left-turn conflicts.
The result is a more continuous flow of vehicles without the need to expand lane capacity or install new traffic signals. With an estimated 34,000 drivers using the interchange daily, NCDOT officials say the updated design will reduce congestion and enhance safety—especially for drivers merging onto and off the interstate.

In a historic showdown that lived up to the hype, the North Carolina Tar Heels ended Coach Mike Krzyzewski’s legendary career with a dramatic 81-77 victory over Duke in the 2022 Final Four. It was the first time the storied rivals had ever met in the NCAA Tournament, making the moment even more iconic.
The Tar Heels’ win not only secured a spot in the national championship game but also closed the curtain on Coach K’s 42-year run at Duke with a rivalry loss that will be remembered for generations.
