Piada Italian Street Food

Piada Italian Street Food is one of the local food places nominated by Cary Spotlight's readers for our Discover Cary project. If you've had a chance to sample their food, feel free to share your opinion below.

Piada Italian Street Food is a fast-casual spot where chefs hand-roll piadas, toss pastas, and build chopped salads right in front of you, using a short list of fresh ingredients finished on a stone grill.

Technically Morrisville, but practically Cary—Piada is tucked into Park West Village, just south of Chapel Hill Road and steps from the Northwest Cary Parkway border, so your GPS won't even notice… but your taste buds definitely will!

NC Reports Rise in Parasite Linked to Severe Diarrhea

North Carolina health officials are reporting an increase in cases of cyclosporiasis, an intestinal illness caused by the parasite Cyclospora.

Since early May, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services has identified at least 110 cases across the state. While officials have not found a common source, the infection is often linked to fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs that are eaten raw.

How It Spreads

People become infected by consuming food or water contaminated with the parasite. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, fresh produce has been associated with outbreaks in recent years.

Symptoms can include severe diarrhea, nausea, stomach cramps and fatigue. Although the illness is rarely life-threatening, it can last for weeks if left untreated.

No Common Source Identified

The CDC reports that cases have been identified in 17 states, with 20 people hospitalized. No deaths have been reported.

North Carolina health officials say their investigation has not identified a single food item or supplier responsible for the recent cases.

How to Protect Yourself

Health officials recommend washing hands thoroughly before and after handling produce, rinsing fruits and vegetables under running water, scrubbing firm produce with a clean brush when appropriate, and removing damaged areas or outer leaves before eating.

Because Cyclospora is commonly found on produce that is eaten raw, careful cleaning is one of the best ways to reduce the risk of infection.

Moody's Affirms Cary's Top Credit Rating

Cary has once again earned the highest possible credit rating from Moody's, reaffirming the town's strong financial position and long-term fiscal stability.

The Aaa bond rating places Cary among a select group of municipalities nationwide with top-tier credit, allowing the town to borrow money at lower interest rates when funding major infrastructure projects.

Lower Costs for Community Investments

A strong credit rating helps reduce borrowing costs for projects such as parks, greenways, roads, public safety facilities and utility infrastructure. Lower financing costs can allow more taxpayer dollars to be directed toward community improvements instead of interest payments.

Built on Long-Term Financial Planning

Moody's cited Cary's consistent budgeting practices, healthy financial reserves and long-term planning as key reasons for maintaining the Aaa rating.

Town leaders say the recognition reflects decades of careful financial management that has positioned Cary to support continued growth while maintaining fiscal stability.
