Cary Man Wins $100,000 Top Prize on $30 Scratch-Off Ticket
A Cary resident turned a $30 lottery purchase into a major payday after winning the top prize on a North Carolina Education Lottery scratch-off ticket.
Lottery officials said Simson Biswas purchased a $100,000 Cash Payday ticket at Park N Shop on East Chatham Street. The ticket was a winner for the game's highest available prize of $100,000.
After federal and state tax withholdings, Biswas received $72,018. The win adds to a series of notable lottery prizes claimed across North Carolina this year.
The lottery also highlighted its contribution to local education funding. Wake County received $64.3 million in lottery-supported funding during the previous fiscal year, helping support educational programs and initiatives throughout the county.
Top Pickleball Talent Coming to Cary

ary is preparing to welcome some of the biggest names in pickleball when the Veolia Pickleball National Championships arrive at Cary Tennis Park from Aug. 31 through Sept. 6.
The tournament will feature many of the sport's top competitors, including world No. 1 players Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns, bringing national attention to one of the country's fastest-growing sports.
Beyond the competition, visitors will find plenty to explore throughout Cary. The town's extensive park system, greenways, local restaurants, and walkable downtown district offer a variety of ways to spend time between matches.
Cary has established itself as a leading destination for pickleball, with more than a dozen courts spread across six locations. The town also supports the sport through instructional programs led by certified instructors, organized leagues, community tournaments, and year-round open play opportunities.
Local officials say the championship event reflects Cary's continued investment in pickleball and its growing reputation as a hub for both recreational and competitive players.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
A: the Red Baron
Snoopy's nemesis is the infamous World War I flying ace, the Red Baron. In his imaginary alter-ego as a WWI Flying Ace, Snoopy frequently engages in epic aerial dogfights against the Baron while perched atop his Sopwith Camel (his red doghouse).
These thrilling sequences typically end with Snoopy getting shot down, forcing him to trudge behind enemy lines and dream of his next battle. The imaginary rivalry, which first appeared in the comic strip in 1965, is famously accompanied by Snoopy shaking his fist at the sky and crying, "Curse you, Red Baron!"
