Preparing For Surgery? Don’t Ignore Recovery

Most people spend weeks preparing for surgery itself — but very little time preparing for recovery afterward.

The healing process places major nutritional demands on the body, increasing the need for nutrients involved in tissue repair, immune support, collagen formation, and recovery.

HealFast was physician-formulated specifically for pre- and post-surgery nutritional support with targeted vitamins, amino acids, antioxidants, and recovery-focused nutrients designed for the healing process.

If you have an upcoming procedure or are currently recovering, recovery nutrition may be one of the most overlooked parts of the process.

Cary Reports Stable Finances and Strong Revenue Growth

Cary’s FY 2026 third quarter financial report paints a largely positive picture for the town’s finances. Revenue collections through March remained strong, particularly in property taxes and sales taxes, while expenditures continued to trend below budgeted levels. Officials reported no significant financial concerns in either the General Fund or Utility Fund.

Property taxes remained the town’s largest and most stable source of revenue, accounting for the majority of operating income. Sales tax collections also outperformed expectations despite signs of broader economic uncertainty. Overall General Fund revenues increased 5% compared with the same point last fiscal year.

On the spending side, Cary reported lower overall expenditures than last year, helped by reduced capital spending and personnel savings tied to vacancies. The town ended the quarter with a $39.4 million operating surplus and projects year-end expenditures to remain well below budget.

Town officials also highlighted ongoing investment in infrastructure and capital projects, with more than 300 active projects underway across Cary. Looking ahead, staff are continuing work on the FY 2027 budget while monitoring economic trends, revenue performance, and long-term financial stability.

Residents can review the full report and watch the Town Council Quarterly Meeting recording through Cary’s quarterly report page: carync.gov/quarterly.

A: Sally Ride

Dr. Sally Ride was the first female American in space. She made her historic flight on June 18, 1983, as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger during the STS-7 mission.

She was the third woman in space overall, following Soviet cosmonauts Valentina Tereshkova (1963) and Svetlana Savitskaya (1982). At age 32, she was the youngest American astronaut to travel to space at that time. After leaving NASA in 1987, she became a physics professor and co-founded Sally Ride Science to inspire young girls to pursue science and math.
