Explore the Illuminating Ideals Exhibition
Tuesday, May 26, 2026 | Cary Arts Center, Studio M10, Cary, NC

Green Hope High School is bringing one of its most meaningful student projects to life with the Illuminating Ideals Exhibition, a free public art show opening Tuesday, May 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cary Arts Center.
This special exhibit is the result of a year-long collaboration between students in the school's Asian American Studies and Advanced Art programs. Together, they have been exploring America's core ideals — democracy, equality, rights, liberty, and opportunity — through real oral histories shared by members of Cary's local Asian American community.
What makes this exhibit stand out is where the students found their inspiration. They visited the NC State Archive and the NC Museum of Art, where historical collections sparked ideas for their own original works. Each piece reflects a student's personal take on how America's founding ideals shape life today — not just in history books, but in the everyday experiences of people who call the Triangle home. You'll get to see and hear their creative process firsthand, with artwork and oral history elements woven together throughout the exhibition space.
The event is completely free and open to the public, making it a great outing for families, history buffs, and anyone who appreciates student creativity. As an added bonus, Andia's Ice Cream will be served to the first 100 guests; so it pays to arrive a little early!
The exhibition is supported by the Teaching America 250 Award from the Jack Miller Center, a national organization dedicated to civic education. It's a wonderful chance to connect with the community and see what happens when students dig deep into history and bring it to life through art.

Hello, Maui!
Gateway to Volcanic Peaks and Endless Beaches

Welcome to Maui, Hawaii's "Valley Isle," where a 10,000-foot volcano towers above the clouds and some of the most beautiful beaches on Earth stretch along the shore below. Getting here from RDU is easy with connecting flights through major hubs like Dallas, Los Angeles, or Denver, with airlines such as American, Delta, and Alaska all offering routes to Kahului Airport (OGG), Maui's main gateway.
Whether you're drawn by dramatic crater sunrises, jaw-dropping coastal drives, or crystal-clear waters teeming with sea turtles and tropical fish, Maui has a way of living up to every expectation and then some.
Why Visit Maui?
Haleakalā National Park: This stunning volcano is the crown jewel of Maui, rising more than 10,000 feet above sea level. Visitors can wake before dawn to watch the sunrise paint the sky above the clouds from the summit — an experience many call the most breathtaking of their lives — or explore the vast, otherworldly crater floor on foot.
The Road to Hana: This legendary 64-mile highway is one of the most scenic drives in the United States, winding through bamboo forests, past cascading waterfalls, and along rugged black-sand coastlines. Pack snacks, start early, and take your time — this is a full-day adventure you won't want to rush.
Molokini Crater and Ka'anapali Beach: Just offshore, the crescent-shaped Molokini Crater is one of Hawaii's premier snorkeling and diving spots, with calm, clear water and an abundance of colorful reef fish. Back on land, Ka'anapali Beach offers miles of golden sand, gentle surf, and a relaxed resort atmosphere that's perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
A) Sperm Whale
The loudest animal on Earth is the sperm whale. They produce rapid, rhythmic clicking sounds for echolocation and communication that can reach an incredible 230 decibels. This is louder than a jet engine, and powerful enough to theoretically rupture human eardrums.
The sperm whale’s powerful clicks are primarily used for echolocation, a method of navigating and hunting in the deep, dark ocean. By emitting these loud clicks, sperm whales can map their surroundings and locate prey with remarkable precision.
