Cary Pop-Up Event Supports Vendors After Painted Tree Shutdown
A weekend pop-up event in downtown Cary brought together more than 20 local vendors affected by the abrupt closure of Painted Tree Boutiques locations across the country. Hosted near East Chatham Street and inside the Meridian Clubhouse, the event aimed to help small business owners sell inventory and reconnect with customers after losing their storefronts with little warning.
The event was organized through a partnership between Refreshery and the Meridian East Chatham development. Community members turned out to shop local and support entrepreneurs who suddenly found themselves without retail space. Many vendors said the closures left them scrambling to move merchandise, absorb financial losses, and rethink their business plans.
Several business owners described the shutdown as both emotional and financially difficult. Vendors reportedly had only days to clear out inventory, while some lost deposits and were left holding large amounts of unsold products. Still, many said the support from the Cary and Raleigh communities has helped them stay optimistic during the transition.
Among those rebuilding is Lulu’s Boutique owner Lexi Irwin, who recently opened her business and had moved into the Cary Painted Tree location earlier this year. For now, she is focusing on online sales and local pop-up events while searching for a permanent storefront. Organizers said they hope to continue hosting similar events to keep displaced vendors connected to customers and to one another.

Courage Make History With Another Win
The North Carolina Courage gave Cary fans another unforgettable night Saturday, rolling past the Chicago Stars 4-0 in front of a packed house at WakeMed Soccer Park. The win marked the first time in club history the Courage sold out back-to-back home matches, continuing the team’s strong start to the season.
Weekend Highlights:
Evelyn Ijeh broke the scoreless tie just after halftime, heading home a perfect cross from Ashley Sanchez in the 47th minute for her first goal with the Courage since arriving from AC Milan during the offseason.
Ashley Sanchez kept her standout season rolling with her team-leading sixth goal in the 61st minute, cleaning up a chaotic play in the box after Ijeh helped keep the attack alive. The goal also set a new career high for Sanchez.
Ally Schlegel added another spark just four minutes later, scoring her first goal in a Courage jersey against her former club off a setup from Manaka Matsukubo.
Manaka Matsukubo capped off the dominant night with her fourth goal of the season, firing a low shot into the corner late in the match after a feed from Shinomi Koyama.
The announced crowd of 10,023 fans was the fifth-largest in Courage history and showed once again that Cary continues to be one of the best soccer towns around.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
A: Bone
Sharks do not have a single bone in their bodies. Instead, their entire skeleton is made of cartilage—the flexible, sturdy tissue that makes up the tip of your nose and your outer ears.
