Question: What does Karaoke literally mean?
(Answer at the bottom of the newsletter.)

Parents across Wake County often wonder how their teens can build a creative portfolio that stands out when applying to college.
The 16th Annual Wake County Teen Art Exhibition in Cary is designed to give student artists exactly that opportunity. The exhibition displays work from students across roughly 50 Wake County schools in a real, professionally curated gallery setting - the kind of experience students can list on a resume or college application. The exhibition runs May 6-27, 2026.
The community is welcome to attend the free public reception and awards ceremony on May 10, where $20,000 in prizes will be awarded to students and their schools. Coming soon: May 10, 2026.

The Key to Better aging: More NAD+
Most skincare works on the surface. Aramore goes where real aging begins: the basal layer of the skin, where new cells form. Backed by decades of research from Harvard and MIT scientists, Aramore is the first topical system designed to support skin’s NAD+ — the molecule your cells rely on for repair, energy, and resilience.
As NAD+ naturally declines with age, visible changes follow: dullness, uneven tone, fine lines, and loss of firmness. Aramore’s unique complex of NAD+ precursors, ketones, and fatty acids helps replenish cells at the source for skin that acts healthier and younger.
Clinically shown to improve tone, radiance, smoothness, and firmness as soon as 28 days.
Do This EVERY DAY to Lose 20 Pounds by the Summer
The video’s main message is that lasting fat loss comes from fixing three areas at the same time: sleep and stress management, insulin and eating habits, and daily movement with strength training.
Key Advice
Treat fat loss like a “system reset,” not a crash diet.
Focus on lowering chronic stress and improving sleep before trying extreme dieting.
Use fasting and meal timing to improve insulin sensitivity.
Build and preserve muscle through resistance training.
Increase daily movement instead of relying only on intense workouts.
Main Action Steps
1. Reset Stress and Sleep
The speaker says high cortisol and poor sleep are major reasons people struggle to lose belly fat.
Recommended habits:
Get at least 7 hours of sleep nightly.
Stop eating about 3 hours before bed.
Avoid alcohol before sleep.
Stop screen use 60 minutes before bed.
Keep the bedroom cool.
Take magnesium glycinate before bed.
Get sunlight within 10 minutes of waking.
Delay caffeine 60 to 90 minutes after waking.
Avoid caffeine later in the day.
Spend 10 minutes daily in silence, breathing, or relaxation.
2. Improve Insulin Sensitivity and Eating Habits
The video recommends structured fasting and eating whole foods in a specific order.
Suggested approach:
Men: begin the day fasted.
Women: gradually build toward longer fasting windows.
Use progressive fasting stages instead of jumping immediately into long fasts.
Eat meals in this order:
Protein
Fiber
Carbohydrates
Prioritize whole, minimally processed foods.
Aim for high protein and fiber intake.
Use walking after meals to reduce glucose spikes.
3. Upgrade the “Hardware” Through Exercise
The speaker emphasizes muscle building and consistent movement.
Exercise recommendations:
Resistance train 3 to 4 times per week.
Focus on full-body compound exercises.
Do Zone 2 cardio 2 to 3 times weekly for 20 to 30 minutes.
Aim for 10,000 to 15,000 daily steps.
Use walking pads, post-meal walks, and stairs to increase activity naturally.
Overall Takeaway
The video argues that most people fail because they only focus on dieting while ignoring sleep, stress, muscle loss, and daily activity. The speaker says combining all three “resets” consistently creates sustainable fat loss and better long-term health.

Salmonella Concerns Drive Several New Food Recalls

Several food recalls and alerts were announced or updated in recent days, including potato chips, infant formula, frozen pizzas, powdered drink mixes and snack mix.
Utz Quality Foods recalled select Zapp’s and Dirty potato chips because seasoning made with dry milk powder may be contaminated with Salmonella. No illnesses have been reported.
The a2 Milk Company recalled three batches of a2 Platinum Premium infant formula after cereulide, a toxin linked to Bacillus cereus, was detected. The affected batch numbers are 2210269454, 2210324609 and 2210321712.
Federal officials also expanded a Salmonella-related alert involving certain frozen pizzas and meat or poultry products sold at retailers including Aldi and Walmart. Ghirardelli recalled 13 powdered beverage mixes tied to the same broader milk powder concern.
Second Nature Brands recalled 10-ounce packages of Keto Crunch Smart Mix with a best-by date of Feb. 12, 2027, because the product may contain undeclared cashews, pistachios and cherries.
Consumers should not eat affected products. They should discard them or return them for a refund.
How do you typically respond when you hear about a food recall?

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
A: empty orchestra
Karaoke literally means "empty orchestra" in Japanese. It is a compound word formed by kara, meaning "empty," and oke, a shortened form of okesutora, meaning "orchestra". This signifies singing to pre-recorded, instrumental music rather than a live band.
