Parents across Wake County often wonder how their teens can build a creative portfolio that stands out when applying to college.
The 16th Annual Wake County Teen Art Exhibition in Cary is designed to give student artists exactly that opportunity. The exhibition displays work from students across roughly 50 Wake County schools in a real, professionally curated gallery setting - the kind of experience students can list on a resume or college application. The exhibition runs May 6-27, 2026.
The community is welcome to attend the free public reception and awards ceremony on May 10, where $20,000 in prizes will be awarded to students and their schools. Coming soon: May 10, 2026.

Cary Unveils Tallest Pedestrian Bridge

Cary has completed phase two of its Black Creek Greenway renovations, reopening a key հատված of the trail between Livingstone Drive and Weston Parkway. The improvements aim to enhance trail alignment and reduce flooding risks.
A major highlight of the project is a new pedestrian bridge over Black Creek. The 285-foot structure is now the tallest in Cary and includes design elements inspired by the surrounding natural environment.
Additional safety upgrades, including a new traffic signal and pedestrian crossing features, were installed to improve accessibility along the route.
The project is funded through a mix of local bond funding and state-supported programs. Construction will continue into phase three, with another section of the greenway expected to reopen later this winter.
Just curious…

Cary’s GoCary Earns Top Safety Honors for Third Time

GoCary has been recognized by the North Carolina Public Transportation Association as the safest transit system in its category for both fixed route and demand response services. This marks the third time the system has earned both awards.
The recognition is based on safety performance metrics, specifically preventable accidents per distance traveled over a one-year period. The results highlight consistent operational performance across both types of service.
GoCary offers a mix of traditional bus routes and on-demand transportation, supporting access to essential services and regional connections for Cary residents.
The award underscores the system’s ongoing focus on safety and reliability as it continues to serve the community.

Courage Fall Short Despite Late Push in Front of Sellout Crowd
A packed house in Cary saw plenty of action Saturday night, but the North Carolina Courage couldn’t quite complete a dramatic comeback against the Kansas City Current.
Weekend Highlights:
North Carolina Courage 1, Kansas City Current 2: Kansas City struck early with goals from Croix Bethune (8’) and Michelle Cooper (23’), putting the Courage in a tough first-half hole.
Second-half surge falls just short: The Courage flipped the script after halftime, outshooting KC 10-0, and finally broke through in the 86’ when Manaka Matsukubo scored her third goal of the season after firing off seven shots.
Late drama hurts comeback hopes: A VAR review led to a red card for Feli Rauch in stoppage time, stalling the final push as Kansas City held on.
Big crowd, big milestone: The match drew 10,031 fans, the third-largest crowd in club history, while Riley Jackson hit her 50th NWSL appearance, one of the youngest ever to do it.
Off the field, there was still reason to celebrate—Ashley Sanchez earned NWSL Player of the Month honors for April, scoring three goals in three matches and helping the team stay unbeaten during that stretch.
Even with the tough loss, Cary showed up loud and proud—another reminder that this town knows how to bring the energy for its team.
