Spring Daze Offers Flexible Volunteer Shifts and Festival Perks

Spring Daze organizers have opened volunteer registration and are encouraging residents to take part in helping the festival run smoothly. The opportunities are designed to be flexible, making it possible for people to contribute whether they are available for only a few hours or for most of the day.

To streamline the process, the festival is using Rosterfy for volunteer registration. The platform allows participants to create an account, browse open roles, and sign up for shifts that match their availability.

Volunteers will receive several benefits, including a free event T-shirt, access to dedicated parking, and complimentary drinks and snacks during their shifts. The event also offers community service hours, which may be useful for students, clubs, and local organizations.

The volunteer push is part of the broader effort to prepare for Spring Daze and ensure the festival has the support it needs. Organizers are positioning the opportunity as both a practical way to help and a chance to be part of one of Cary’s community celebrations.

Just curious…

RDU Avoids Major Delays Despite Nationwide TSA Staffing Issues

Air travel is ramping up for spring break at the same time TSA staffing challenges persist across the country. Federal funding issues have left TSA workers without pay once again, contributing to employee departures and increased absences.

The Department of Homeland Security reports that hundreds of TSA employees have quit, while others are not reporting to work. These shortages have led to longer lines and delays at several airports nationwide.

At Raleigh-Durham International Airport, officials say operations have remained relatively stable despite the broader disruptions. Travelers are still encouraged to arrive early to allow time for security screening.

The surge in travel demand is significant, with a large share of North Carolina residents planning trips. While staffing shortages are a factor, weather-related issues have also played a role in recent flight delays and schedule changes.

Wake County Schools Prepare Measles Response Plan

Wake County health and school leaders are preparing for the possibility of measles cases appearing in local schools as cases rise elsewhere in the region. While no cases have been confirmed in Wake County, nearby counties and a growing outbreak in South Carolina have prompted increased planning.

The response plan outlines how cases would be reported and managed, with coordination between the state lab, local health department, and individual schools. Each school is assigning a liaison to streamline communication during a potential case.

Schools are also identifying separate isolation spaces to reduce the risk of spreading illness among students and staff. Officials emphasized that an increase in testing may be noticeable but does not mean cases are increasing locally.

Vaccination requirements remain in place for public school students, with enforcement measures tied to attendance. Health leaders say preparation now will help limit disruption if a case is identified.
