Early Voting Underway in Cary, Traffic Expected Near Polling Sites

Early voting for the 2026 Primary Election is taking place across Wake and Chatham counties through February 28, with multiple sites offering extended weekday and weekend hours. In Cary, Wake County voters can cast ballots at the Herb Young Community Center.

Officials are advising residents to plan for heavier pedestrian and vehicle traffic near early voting sites and again on Election Day, March 3. Voters visiting the Cary location are encouraged to use the lower levels of the parking deck, which are typically the most available.

North Carolina voters must present a valid photo ID to vote. Both counties provide online tools to help residents find polling places, review hours, check wait times, and access sample ballots and registration information.

Wake County operates wakevotesearly.com to provide a full list of early voting locations, daily hours, and bus routes, along with an interactive map, live wait times, and information about same-day registration.

March 3 is the statewide Primary Election Day; a full list of locations, hours, and more is available at wake.gov/election and chathamcountync.gov/elections.

In his lifetime, Crum was widely known across the U.S. and celebrated for his brook trout, lake bass, woodcock and partridge, among other dishes—making him perhaps the first celebrity chef in America.
