Spreading Kindness in Cary
MOM’s Valentine for You, a Cary-based nonprofit, is rebranding to reflect a broader mission of supporting people experiencing loneliness—not just widows—during Valentine’s Day. Originally focused on widows and widowers, the organization now encourages nominations for anyone who might need a boost, including caregivers and single individuals.
Each gift includes a bouquet of fresh flowers, a handwritten message, and a personal delivery from a volunteer. These gestures are meant to offer emotional connection during a time that can often amplify feelings of isolation.
The organization is operating under urgency, with less than a week until Valentine’s Day 2026. Community members are encouraged to donate or volunteer to help make the initiative a success.
Donations start at $15 per bouquet, with all funds directed to supplies and delivery. The organization is also accepting submissions of individuals who would benefit from a Valentine’s Day surprise.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
A: The short answer - Luge is feet-first, face-up. Skeleton is head-first, face-down.
Luge and skeleton are high-speed Winter Olympic sliding sports, with luge athletes racing feet-first on their backs, and skeleton racers going head-first on their stomachs. Lugers achieve faster speeds (up to 90 mph or (145 km/h})) due to a more aerodynamic position, whereas skeleton racers use a running start, hitting speeds of 80 mph (130-140 km/h).
Key Differences:
Position: Luge is feet-first, face-up. Skeleton is head-first, face-down.
Start: Luge begins with a seated start; Skeleton uses a running start.
Steering: Luge is steered using calf pressure on the runners; Skeleton is steered with subtle body movements, shoulder pressure, and knee taps.
Sled: Luge sleds are heavier, while skeleton sleds are thinner and more skeleton-like, hence the name.
Events: Luge has singles, doubles, and team relay. Skeleton features individual men's and women's competitions.
Danger: Both are dangerous, but due to the head-first, face-down position, skeleton is often considered more frightening, despite higher injury rates in some studies.
