“Love ❤️ Love 💕 Love this place!!! Tried it for the first time last week for brunch. Ate a scrumptious quiche and a cinnamon twist that was ridiculously large. Next stop I'll plan to try a cream filled donut b/c the pastry is almost as large as my face! Service was outstanding and accurate for a takeout cafe with plenty of seating (inside and out) and allowed my friend and I to chill (and we did for several hours)!! 🥰

Safe Place Program Expands to Wake County Public Libraries

Wake County Public Libraries has designated all 23 of its locations as Safe Place sites through a new collaboration with Haven House Services. This initiative, launched in November, equips libraries with clear Safe Place signage and trains staff to assist young people in crisis.

Safe Place is a nationwide program that connects youth in need with trained adults and access to resources like temporary shelter or counseling. In Wake County, Haven House Services serves as the certified responder, arriving within 30 minutes to offer help when a young person seeks assistance at a Safe Place site.

Library staff play a key role in providing a welcoming environment and coordinating with Haven House to assess and meet the needs of each youth. The initiative reinforces the library system’s role as a community hub and safe space for all residents, particularly vulnerable young people.

By becoming Safe Place sites, Wake County libraries expand their mission of community support and ensure that every young person in crisis has access to immediate, trusted help across the county.

Wake County Public Libraries are now Safe Place sites for youth in crisis. We'd love to hear your thoughts:

Don’t Let Porch Pirates Steal Your Cheer This Season

As the holiday season brings a surge in home deliveries, the Cary Police Department is encouraging residents to take simple steps to prevent package theft. With more packages arriving on porches across town, the risk of theft increases, especially during the busy December shopping period.

To help keep your holidays worry-free, police recommend the following:

  • 📦 Track packages and bring them inside as soon as they arrive

  • 🎥 Install cameras or motion-activated lights to deter theft

  • 🚗 Keep gifts out of sight in vehicles while shopping

  • 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Team up with neighbors to monitor each other’s deliveries

These simple measures can help safeguard your packages and preserve the season’s cheer. Cary Police Share Holiday Tips

He was the sculptor who conceived and designed Mount Rushmore, beginning work on the monument in 1927 in South Dakota. He transformed the mountain into a colossal monument featuring George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt. Borglum died before its completion in 1941, and the project was finished by his son, Lincoln. The carving also involved innovative use of dynamite and pneumatic hammers.
