While there aren't direct flights from RDU, you can easily reach Cape Town International Airport (CPT) with just one connection through major hubs like Atlanta or New York. This stunning city at Africa's southern tip blends natural wonders, world-class food and wine, and a rich cultural story that will leave you amazed.
Why Visit Cape Town?

Robben Island: This UNESCO World Heritage Site is where Nelson Mandela spent 18 years in prison during apartheid. Take a ferry from the V&A Waterfront and hear stories from former political prisoners who now guide tours of this powerful memorial to freedom and resilience.
Boulders Beach and Cape Peninsula: Just 45 minutes south of the city, you'll find a colony of adorable African penguins waddling along protected beaches. Explore Kildaire Farms

Kildaire Farms holds a special place in Cary's history as North Carolina's first Planned Unit Development. Opened in 1974, this 967-acre community sprawls across mature, tree-lined streets where you'll find over 1,100 homes tucked among dense woods and lakeside views. The community was built on the former Pine State Dairy Farm and became the model for neighborhood development throughout Cary. With an extensive network of greenways and trails, multiple lakes, and a private racquet and swim club, Kildaire Farms offers plenty of ways to enjoy the outdoors right from your front door.
Whether you're looking for a morning walk, an afternoon bike ride, or a peaceful paddle on the lake, Kildaire Farms delivers. The community maintains miles of walking and biking trails that wind through the neighborhoods, connecting homes to parks, lakes, and open green spaces. The trails are popular with joggers, cyclists, and families pushing strollers. Two large grassy fields provide space for pick-up games, frisbee, and outdoor gatherings. For water activities, residents with boats can take advantage of the community's private storage yard and launch from nearby lakes.
Keep your eyes open and you'll spot all kinds of wildlife—cardinals, blue jays, woodpeckers, herons, ducks, and turtles are everyday sights. Early morning or late afternoon are the best times for viewing when the trails are quieter and animals are most active. Beyond the trails and natural beauty, Kildaire Farms offers the semi-private Kildaire Farms Racquet & Swim Club (membership available to residents) with a large pool, thirteen tennis courts, racquetball courts, and a fitness center. The neighborhood hosts an annual community picnic each fall, and with convenient access to Cary Parkway and Kildaire Farm Road, you're just minutes from shopping and dining while still feeling tucked away in a peaceful, wooded community.
