Flash Flood Risk and Alert Sign-Up in Wake County

Wake County is under flash flood alerts as ongoing wet weather raises the risk of flooding and other hazards such as downed trees. Residents are urged to avoid travel where possible and stay clear of standing water.

To keep residents informed, Wake County offers the ReadyWake Alerts system, a mass notification service that delivers emergency updates via voice or text. Users can customize notifications based on their location and preferred communication methods.

The service now includes real-time weather alerts, powered by Weather Decision Technologies and based on National Weather Service data. Alerts are sent automatically based on location, ensuring users receive relevant warnings as conditions develop.

Officials recommend that all residents sign up for ReadyWake Alerts to stay informed and prepared during severe weather events.

North Carolina Courage Dismiss Head Coach

The North Carolina Courage have terminated the contract of head coach Sean Nahas, who had been with the team since 2017. Initially brought on as an assistant, Nahas rose to the top coaching role in 2021. His departure comes as the Courage face a middling season, currently holding a 5-5-4 record and ranking ninth in the NWSL.

The decision, announced Wednesday evening, signals the organization's intent to reset and prioritize stability and competitiveness. The team will need to rally with 12 regular-season games remaining, beginning with an away match against the Houston Dash on Friday.

Nahas had been a key figure within the organization for several years and is the brother of Damon Nahas, head coach of the UNC women’s soccer program. His exit marks a significant leadership change as the Courage seek to climb the league standings.

The Courage continue to play their home games at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary and remain focused on the development of both players and the program overall.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
American women gained the right to vote in 1920 with the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. This historic achievement came after decades of activism by the women’s suffrage movement, which included leaders like Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Alice Paul. The amendment marked a major victory in the fight for gender equality and reshaped American democracy by granting millions of women the right to participate in elections.
