New Parking Decks Promise Easier Access for Downtown Visitors

If you missed the recent Cary Town Hall, one of the most important updates was about how and when we vote in local elections. Here’s what every Cary resident should know:

Downtown Cary currently has 3,852 public parking spaces, including 2,215 in off-street lots and decks and 1,637 on-street spaces. Private off-street lots add another 2,535 spaces to the area’s total parking inventory.

Two new parking decks are under construction to expand access. The Academy Street Parking Deck at 110 S. Harrison Avenue will provide 478 spaces, with 225 available for public use. Completion is expected in spring 2026. The Cedar Street Parking Deck at 149 E. Chatham Street will offer 290 public spaces and is projected to open in fall 2025.

Together, these projects will add 768 spaces, increasing public access to downtown parking and supporting future growth. Residents and visitors can expect more availability beginning in fall 2025, with additional capacity coming the following spring.

As Downtown Cary grows, parking is a key concern for residents and visitors. We want to hear your thoughts!

Triangle Hospitals Among the Best in the Country

The Triangle area continues to solidify its reputation for exceptional health care, according to the latest U.S. News & World Report “Best Hospitals” rankings for 2025-26. Duke University Hospital led the state once again, securing the No. 1 spot in North Carolina and ranking No. 35 nationally.

UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill followed as the No. 2 hospital in the state and ranked No. 48 in the country. The report also highlighted UNC Health Rex in Raleigh, which ranked No. 4 in North Carolina and No. 3 in the Triangle.

UNC Hospitals earned national rankings in four specialties: cancer, ear, nose and throat, urology, and rehabilitation. These distinctions place the hospital system among the most comprehensive in the region for specialized care.

Other central North Carolina hospitals recognized in the report include FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, Duke Raleigh Hospital, WakeMed in Raleigh, and Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
Reading has been shown to reduce the risk of dementia by keeping the brain active and engaged. Unlike passive activities like watching TV or napping, reading stimulates multiple areas of the brain, improves cognitive reserve, and strengthens neural connections. Regularly challenging your mind with reading, puzzles, or learning new skills can help protect memory and thinking abilities as you age.
