Cary Nonprofit Feeds Kids in Need Through Summer Meal Program

A Doorway to Hope (ADTH), a nonprofit based in Cary, is addressing summer food insecurity through its Nourishing Our Neighbors program, which provides free weekday dinners to children living in Chatham Estates. Many of these children qualify for free or reduced-price meals during the school year at Mills Park Elementary, and the program helps ensure they continue receiving nutritious meals over the summer.

Initially supported by USDA grant funding, the initiative now relies on private donations. Meals are prepared by Ruckus Pizza, a local restaurant chain that adheres to school nutrition standards while keeping the food appealing to children. Volunteers distribute meals and organize recreational activities like games and crafts, creating a safe and supportive space for kids and families.

The program serves not only local residents but also families from outside the community who travel for the meals and companionship. With the future of Chatham Estates uncertain due to a pending sale, the program has become a source of stability for many. ADTH hopes greater awareness of local need will encourage more Cary residents to get involved and help sustain the effort. Read Full Story

These improvements are aimed at supporting Biogen’s late-stage clinical pipeline and ensuring a reliable supply of treatments.

The company, which has been part of the RTP community since 1995, has already invested $10 billion in the region, making it Biogen’s largest manufacturing footprint. The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
On the back of the U.S. penny, the Lincoln Memorial appears to be facing backward—yet if you look closely, you can spot a tiny statue of Lincoln seated facing forward inside the monument. This clever detail was added when the reverse design was introduced in 1959 to mark the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth. Though small, the image of the statue is a fascinating and often overlooked feature of the coin.
