Hello, Frankfurt!
Medieval Charm and Modern Innovation

Welcome to Frankfurt, Germany, a city where glass skyscrapers rise above cobblestone squares, where centuries-old churches stand beside cutting-edge financial towers, and where traditional apple wine flows in cozy taverns just steps from international boardrooms. With direct flights from RDU (Raleigh-Durham) to Frankfurt Airport (FRA) – one of Europe's major hubs – reaching this dynamic German metropolis is straightforward. Whether you're fascinated by medieval history, world-class museums, or Europe's financial heartbeat, Frankfurt delivers an unexpected blend of old and new in one compact city.

Why Visit Frankfurt?

  • Römerberg Square: This picture-perfect medieval square serves as Frankfurt's historic heart with its fairy-tale timber houses and ancient city hall. Visitors can explore Christmas markets in winter, outdoor cafes in summer, and soak up 600 years of German history while sipping coffee at sidewalk tables.

  • Städel Museum: One of Germany's most important art museums houses masterpieces spanning 700 years, from medieval works to contemporary installations. The museum's impressive collection includes pieces by Monet, Picasso, and Dürer, making it a cultural treasure trove for art lovers of all tastes.

  • Main River Promenade: Just minutes from the city center, this scenic riverside path offers peaceful walks along the water with stunning views of Frankfurt's famous skyline. Rent a bike, join locals for evening jogs, or simply relax on the grassy banks while watching boats drift by – a perfect escape from urban energy.

Explore Apex Community Park

Apex Community Park is the cornerstone of the Apex Parks system, spanning 160 acres of outdoor fun just minutes from Cary. The park centers around a beautiful 50-acre lake that offers something for everyone, whether you're looking to exercise, relax in nature, or enjoy quality time with family and friends. This well-maintained park feels like a true neighborhood retreat where locals love to gather and play together.

The park's crown jewel is a 2-mile paved loop trail that hugs the lake and provides a perfect backdrop for walking, running, or biking. About 90% of the trail is shaded, making it ideal for summer activities, and the mostly flat terrain welcomes beginners, families with kids, and leashed dogs. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife along the shores - you might spot waterfowl and other lake animals during your visit.

The lake is stocked with channel catfish and open to fishing with a permit, plus water enthusiasts can launch kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, or small boats from the designated launch site. Beyond the water activities, families will find multiple playgrounds, sand volleyball courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball fields, and picnic shelters to make it a full-day adventure.
