Cary Resident Wins 2025 St. Jude Dream Home
Patricia Yarber of Cary has won a newly built home through the 2025 St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway. The house, located in Fuquay-Varina’s Serenity Subdivision, features four bedrooms and four bathrooms and is valued at more than $850,000. This marks the culmination of a successful regional campaign that drew more than 9,000 ticket entries.
Yarber, who has roots in both Mississippi and Memphis, has supported St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for years. The Memphis-based hospital holds special meaning for her and her family, making this win especially personal. On Tuesday, she toured the home for the first time and expressed her appreciation for both the prize and the cause it supports.
The giveaway is part of a national initiative to support St. Jude’s work treating pediatric diseases and easing the burden on affected families. All ticket proceeds help ensure that patients at St. Jude receive care without ever being billed for treatment, travel, housing, or food—allowing families to focus on recovery. Read Full Report
Cary Residents Voice Concerns About Busy Intersection

Credit: Cary Spotlight
A Cary Spotlight reader poll on the Tryon Road and Kildaire Farm Road intersection has brought renewed attention to what many residents see as a persistent and worsening traffic problem. Nearly half of the 47 respondents cited poor light timing as a daily frustration, with several noting that only a few cars manage to pass through each green light cycle.
Beyond inconvenience, safety was a common concern. Respondents reported frequent red-light running and limited visibility, contributing to a sense that the intersection is not just inefficient but also hazardous. Some residents said they actively avoid the intersection due to these concerns.
Tensions have been heightened by the Town Council’s recent approval of a 750-unit apartment development at nearby Waverly Place. Many fear that the new housing will bring additional traffic to an already congested area, and they question whether infrastructure improvements are keeping pace with development. The approval has fueled broader anxieties about growth and planning in Cary.
Several respondents said they’ve reached out to the town to request adjustments to the traffic light timing but feel those efforts have gone unanswered. For many, the intersection now represents more than a logistical challenge—it has become a symbol of frustration over traffic management, infrastructure, and communication between residents and town leaders.
Meme of the Day.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
On July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress took a historic step by voting in favor of independence from Great Britain. This vote marked the official decision to break away, following Richard Henry Lee’s resolution declaring that the colonies “are, and of right ought to be, free and independent states.” While July 4 is celebrated as Independence Day, John Adams believed July 2 would be remembered as the true birthday of American freedom.
