Wake County Seeks Air Conditioner Donations
Wake County’s Cool for Wake program is seeing a surge in demand just days after launching its summer season. The initiative provides air conditioners and fans to seniors, chronically ill residents, and families with young children who can’t afford to cool their homes. More than 100 calls for help have already come in, but while box fan donations are steady, air conditioners remain in short supply.
County officials are asking the public to donate new or gently used window or portable AC units, or contribute funds to help meet the growing need. Donations go directly to recipients, with no administrative costs taken out. Financial contributions can be made at wake.gov/coolforwake, and those with equipment to donate can call 919-212-7083 to coordinate. Read Full Story
