“I’m so glad I found this gem of a place! Drew is so kind and his store is full of amazing goodies with fantastic organization. I’ve always been a fan of thrift shops, but this one in particular is wonderful as it feels extra inclusive and also supports local causes.” -Tara Ott-Donahue

Cary Woman Faces Felony Charges After Striking Spectrum Employee
Late Saturday evening, a Spectrum technician working roadside in Cary was struck by an SUV at the intersection of Green Level Church Road and Kitt Creek Road. Emergency personnel responded to the scene and transported the injured worker to a local hospital in critical condition.
The driver, Juanita Ramirez, was taken into custody after officers conducted a breath test, which revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.18. She now faces a series of charges, including felony serious injury by vehicle, DWI, and reckless driving. According to court records, she also failed to reduce speed and maintain lane control at the time of the incident.
The Cary Police Department continues to investigate the case as the victim recovers. No further details about the injured worker’s condition have been released.
Canes Stay Perfect at Home, Push Capitals to Brink of Elimination
The Carolina Hurricanes delivered a statement win in Game 4 of their second-round playoff series, defeating the Washington Capitals 5-2 before a sold-out crowd in Raleigh. The victory gave the Canes a 3-1 lead in the series and preserved their undefeated home record during the 2025 postseason.
Carolina controlled the pace from the outset, striking first and keeping Washington on the back foot throughout the night. With the win, the Hurricanes need just one more to advance to their second Eastern Conference Final in two seasons. Game 5 is scheduled for Thursday in Washington. If necessary, the series would return to Raleigh on Saturday for Game 6.
The Hurricanes now await the outcome of the Maple Leafs–Panthers series, which is currently tied 2-2. A Florida-Carolina rematch would echo last year’s Eastern Conference Final, where the Panthers swept the Canes before ultimately falling to the Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup Final.
For now, Carolina’s focus is on finishing the job—and their fans are embracing the ride.
Just curious…
The Hurricanes are just one win away from returning to the Eastern Conference Final — and they’ve yet to lose at home this postseason.

Cary Soccer Weekend: Courage Sell Out, NCFC Shut Out Orange County
WakeMed Soccer Park was the stage for another high-energy weekend of professional soccer, with both Cary-based teams extending their home unbeaten streaks. On Saturday, the North Carolina Courage played in front of a sellout crowd, only the fourth in club history, and held the lead for most of the night before conceding a last-gasp equalizer to visiting Orlando. Feli Rauch gave the Courage the lead in the 27th minute after finishing off a quick transition that started deep in their own half.
Despite controlling large portions of the match, the Courage could not hold on as Orlando applied late pressure. A stoppage-time corner kick resulted in a looping header that found the near post and leveled the score, denying the Courage their third straight win. Still, the performance and the electric atmosphere, with more than 9,300 fans in attendance, reflected growing momentum as the team prepares for its next match at home against the Chicago Red Stars.
On Friday night, North Carolina FC delivered a focused and efficient performance. Rodrigo da Costa scored just before halftime after connecting with a low cross from Mikey Maldonado, who now leads the league in assists. Goalkeeper Jake McGuire made five key saves in the second half to preserve the 1-0 win. NCFC will look to continue its strong run of form when it hosts Oakland Roots SC this Friday night.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
In a delightful twist of geography and humor, the village of Dull in Scotland is officially twinned with Boring, Oregon, USA. This quirky pairing began in 2012 as a lighthearted partnership to boost tourism and celebrate their amusingly uninspired names. The two towns even hold an annual "Dull and Boring Day" to mark their transatlantic friendship, proving that a good sense of humor can put any place on the map.
