This week, Meow City in Cary is collecting donations of kitten food for Facilitate Rescue Inc, a local nonprofit supporting vulnerable cats and kittens. You can drop off your donation anytime, or bring it in person during their Cat Adoption Event happening this Saturday, May 3rd from 12–4 PM.

Lauren and Jrue Holiday Join North Carolina Courage Ownership Team

Credit: NC Courage Communications

The North Carolina Courage added influential new partners to their ownership group last week with the inclusion of Lauren and Jrue Holiday, a dynamic duo whose reach spans elite athletics and impactful social advocacy. Lauren Holiday, one of the most decorated players in U.S. Women’s National Team history, will not only invest in the club but also serve as an advisor, guiding strategy related to player experience, community engagement, and organizational culture.

A foundational figure in the NWSL’s formative years, Lauren Holiday is widely admired for her playmaking brilliance and leadership, as well as her personal resilience following a serious health diagnosis shortly after her retirement from soccer. Her continued legacy in the sport includes a namesake community award and now, a formal role helping to shape one of the league’s flagship clubs.

Jrue Holiday, a two-time NBA champion currently with the Boston Celtics, joins her in the investment. Known for his elite defense and global accolades, his presence adds further visibility to the Courage’s mission. Together, the couple’s leadership, both philanthropic and athletic, aligns with the Courage’s vision for the future of the sport — one that champions excellence, empowerment, and equity. The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇

In shrimp, the heart is located in the head—a quirky anatomical fact that surprises many. More precisely, their heart sits just behind the brain and between the eyes, protected within the cephalothorax (a fused head and thorax). This unusual placement is due to the shrimp’s exoskeletal structure and internal organ arrangement, which differs significantly from vertebrates like humans.
