“I’m so glad I found this gem of a place! Drew is so kind and his store is full of amazing goodies with fantastic organization. I’ve always been a fan of thrift shops, but this one in particular is wonderful as it feels extra inclusive and also supports local causes.” -Tara Ott-Donahue

Cary Man Arrested After Stabbing During Domestic Dispute
Cary police arrested a 19-year-old man following a stabbing that occurred Sunday evening during a domestic dispute. Officers were dispatched to West Chatham Street around 6:15 p.m., where they found a 50-year-old man with a minor stab wound. A kitchen knife with a 4-inch blade was identified as the weapon used.
Authorities questioned and later arrested Andrew J. Gimelli of Cary at the scene. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and is currently being held in the Wake County Jail on a $50,000 secured bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
Police confirmed that the incident appeared to be isolated, stemming from a domestic situation, and emphasized that there was no ongoing risk to the public.

Virus Outbreak Forces Wake SPCA to Pause Dog Adoptions and Deep Clean Shelter
The SPCA of Wake County closed to the public this week following a canine parvovirus outbreak involving two puppies transported from a neighboring county. The shelter will undergo intensive cleaning and sanitation through Friday to contain the spread of the virus.
Parvovirus is a serious and highly contagious disease that threatens unvaccinated puppies. While the infected puppies are receiving treatment and no deaths have been reported, exposed dogs have been quarantined and adopters of potentially affected animals have been notified.
County officials are urging dog owners to stay vigilant by ensuring their pets are vaccinated and maintaining strict hygiene practices. Although the shelter’s dog adoptions are paused temporarily, the SPCA is continuing to accept online adoption applications, and cat adoptions are scheduled to resume midweek.
The outbreak serves as a reminder that parvovirus remains active in the broader community, and preventive measures are key to keeping pets safe.
Courage Strike Back with First Win; NCFC Falls in Rival Clash
It was a weekend of contrasting emotions for Cary’s soccer faithful. At WakeMed Soccer Park, the North Carolina Courage made a statement, overcoming a halftime deficit and a change in formation to defeat the unbeaten Kansas City Current.
Switching to a 3-4-3 allowed key players greater attacking freedom, resulting in two second-half goals, including Ryan Williams’ first professional tally and an assist to Ashley Sanchez for the match-winner. Fresh legs off the bench provided an extra lift, sealing a breakthrough victory built on a mindset of embracing risk.
North Carolina FC, however, could not find similar success. Facing Charlotte Independence in a heated Jägermeister Cup matchup, NCFC conceded two early goals before Oalex Anderson pulled one back in the 27th minute.
Despite an aggressive second half that saw them outshoot their opponents 18-6, NCFC was unable to find an equalizer. Both teams now prepare for crucial road matches in the coming week.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
The only letter not found in the periodic table of elements is J. While many other letters are used as symbols for elements, J is notably absent, likely because it doesn’t appear in Latin, which heavily influenced the naming of early elements. Interestingly, even newly discovered elements have continued to avoid using J in their symbols, keeping it the odd letter out in the world of chemistry.
