Highly recommend. Arrived quickly and captured the copperhead in our garage to relocate. Loved that the snake was described as a “nuisance” on the relocation form and hope he is living happily far away from me.” - Susan Schock

Cary Local Bucket List:

Visit WRAL Azalea Gardens in Full Bloom

Credit: WRAL Azalea Gardens

There’s a quiet corner of Raleigh that erupts into color each spring — and it’s one of the Triangle’s best-kept floral secrets. Just off Western Boulevard near the WRAL studios, you’ll find the WRAL Azalea Gardens, a public garden space bursting with charm, serenity, and more than 60 varieties of blooming azaleas.

Each April, the gardens transform into a painter’s palette of pinks, purples, whites, and deep reds. The winding pathways are lined with flowering azalea bushes, dogwoods, camellias, and a canopy of tall trees that offer dappled shade as you stroll. Benches are tucked throughout for those who want to sit, soak in the beauty, or snap a family photo surrounded by blossoms.

Originally created in 1959 by WRAL founder A.J. Fletcher, the gardens were built as a gift to the community — and they still feel that way. Free to visit and open year-round, they shine brightest during peak bloom in early to mid-April, when nature puts on its grandest show.

It’s a perfect spot for a mid-morning walk, a peaceful lunch break, or a weekend outing with friends or family. And because it's compact and easily walkable, it's a great stop before or after visiting the nearby NC Museum of Art or Pullen Park.

Good to Know:

  • Location: 2619 Western Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27606

  • Best time to visit: Early–Mid April for peak azalea blooms

  • Admission: Free!

  • Parking: Free onsite (can fill up quickly on weekends)

  • Pro Tip: Bring your camera — this is one of the Triangle’s most Instagrammable spring spots 🌸📸

Whether you’re a flower fanatic or just looking for a peaceful escape, the WRAL Azalea Gardens are a gentle reminder that spring in North Carolina is something truly special.

We’re curious! Have you ever taken a stroll through the blooming beauty of WRAL Azalea Gardens?

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇

Believe it or not, it's technically illegal to whistle underwater in the state of Vermont. This quirky law is one of many bizarre or outdated statutes that still exist on the books in some states. While it's unclear how such a rule came to be—or how it would even be enforced—it’s become a humorous example of America’s many strange local laws that likely began as jokes, misunderstandings, or highly specific cases.
