Reclaiming the Porch:
Cary Poll Finds Split on Spring Tactics
Following last week’s article on the Great Cary Pollen Debate, readers weighed in on when they typically begin their big spring clean-up. The results? Nearly half of all respondents (46.34%) said they’re ready to reclaim their porches as soon as the yellow pollen slows down — with 19 out of 41 voters going all-in on early action.
Coming in second were the more patient (or pollen-weary) types — 14 voters (34%) said they wait until all the pollen (yellow and white fluffy varieties) is done before cleaning.
A smaller group admitted they’re still figuring it out:
4 respondents are still deciding,
3 said honestly, they don’t know,
And 1 person selected “Other” and explained they keep the area clean regularly to avoid tracking pollen into the house.
One voter from Michigan noted the shock of experiencing Cary’s pollen for the first time, calling it unlike anything they’d seen in their hometown — a sentiment many new arrivals to Cary can relate to.
Takeaway:
Cary residents may differ on timing, but whether you're team "Clean Now" or team "Wait It Out," one thing is clear — the pollen may be relentless, but community humor and porch pride remain strong.

Courage Host Bay FC for Pups and Play at WakeMed
The North Carolina Courage will take the field at WakeMed Soccer Park this Saturday for a matchup against Bay FC, bringing back familiar players and a unique twist—“Pups at the Pitch” night. Fans can bring their dogs for a $5 ticket add-on, with proceeds going to Freedom Ride Rescue, which will also be onsite with adoptable dogs.
On the field, both teams are looking to recover from recent setbacks. The Courage are coming off a 3-1 loss at Gotham FC, ending a 59-match streak of controlling possession. Bay FC also suffered a defeat, falling 2-1 to Chicago. Despite the loss, Bay boasts a well-balanced squad with multiple scoring options and several familiar faces to Courage fans.
As both teams enter the fifth matchday of the season, Saturday’s game is not only a chance to gain ground in the standings, but also an opportunity to bring the community—and their pets—together for a good cause. Read Full Report

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
Before becoming the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln was a licensed bartender and co-owner of a tavern in New Salem, Illinois. The establishment, known as Berry and Lincoln, sold alcohol like whiskey, brandy, and wine. Although Lincoln eventually left the business, this little-known chapter in his life highlights his humble and varied beginnings long before he entered politics.
