“Highly recommend. Arrived quickly and captured the copperhead in our garage to relocate. Loved that the snake was described as a “nuisance” on the relocation form and hope he is living happily far away from me.” - Susan Schock

Food Lion Celebrates 1.5 Billion Meals Distributed Across North Carolina
Food Lion marked a major milestone this week, celebrating the distribution of 1.5 billion meals across North Carolina with a community event in Wake Forest. Dozens of families lined up at the Tri-Area Ministry Food Pantry, receiving groceries as part of the company’s ongoing “Thanks-A-Billion” tour.
The event highlighted the continued demand for food assistance, especially as many households navigate rising costs and unpredictable work hours. Food Lion, which has been expanding its hunger relief efforts, has set an ambitious goal to provide three billion meals by 2032, reinforcing its long-term commitment to fighting food insecurity across the state.
In addition to the food distribution, Food Lion announced a new partnership with Durham Tech, pledging $200,000 to create food pantries on the college’s campuses. The initiative aims to support students balancing their education with the daily challenge of securing enough to eat.
As the grocery chain continues its efforts, partnerships like these broaden its impact, reaching not just families in need but also young adults striving for a better future. Food Lion’s sustained investment in hunger relief underscores the vital role businesses can play in strengthening community support systems. Read Full Report

Cary Man Sentenced for $650K Bank Fraud Scheme
A Cary resident will spend more than five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to a sophisticated bank card fraud and identity theft scheme that spanned multiple states and left victims facing significant financial losses.
Ibrahim Abiodun Aderounmu, 27, orchestrated an elaborate plan involving stolen personal information to submit hundreds of fraudulent credit card applications and unemployment benefit claims between 2020 and 2022.
Federal investigators say Aderounmu’s scheme targeted victims across the country. He used their information to open credit card accounts at major banks and to collect unemployment benefits from several states, including North Carolina. Once approved, the cards were mailed to addresses under his control, including his Cary apartment, where a search warrant later uncovered over 400 fraudulent access devices.
Surveillance footage captured Aderounmu withdrawing funds from ATMs in the Triangle area. In addition to serving five years and one month behind bars, he has been ordered to repay more than $536,000 to his victims. Read Full Report
NCFC Battles Back in Final Minutes for Gritty Road Point in Indianapolis
On a soggy Saturday night in Indianapolis, North Carolina FC refused to fold. Facing a two-goal deficit and challenging conditions at Michael A. Carroll Stadium, the Cary-based club staged a late rally to claim a well-earned point against Indy Eleven, keeping pace in the early stages of the USL Championship season.
Indy Eleven looked poised for victory after Aedan Stanley’s corner deflected off an NCFC defender and into the net midway through the first half. Early in the second, Edward Kizza doubled the lead, threatening to sink North Carolina’s hopes entirely. But resilience defined the night. Just two minutes after conceding, Evan Conway—NCFC’s most reliable scorer this season—answered with a composed finish through traffic, marking his 50th career goal in USL competition.
As the rain continued to fall, the match seemed to slip away in the final moments until NCFC earned a lifeline: a late free kick from Mikey Maldonado met the head of Conor Donovan, who steered the ball into the net deep in stoppage time, leveling the score and securing a crucial road point.
The draw lifts NCFC to a 2-1-2 record, keeping them in third place in the Eastern Conference heading into their next road test against New Mexico United on April 12. Read Full Report
