RDU Adds First Direct Flights to Jamaica and Dominican Republic
Avelo Airlines has expanded its footprint at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) with the launch of its first international routes, providing travelers with new direct flights to the Caribbean.
This week, the airline introduced nonstop service to Montego Bay, Jamaica, operating twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Next weekend, it will add a second route to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, following the same schedule. These flights, operated on Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft, are currently the only direct options between RDU and these popular vacation destinations.
Since opening a base at RDU in February 2023, Avelo has steadily increased its offerings and now serves a total of seven nonstop routes. Airport officials have welcomed the airline’s growth, citing its role in expanding travel options and supporting the local economy.
With introductory one-way fares starting at $128, these new routes offer Triangle-area travelers a more convenient and affordable way to reach the Caribbean, just in time to escape the winter chill. Read Full Report
