5 Overlooked Warning Signs of Colon Cancer: A Single Mother’s Warning
Radwah Oda, a single mother from Houston, Texas, is facing stage 4 colon cancer after dismissing what she now recognizes as early warning signs of the disease. Her story, shared with millions on TikTok, underscores the importance of paying attention to changes in your body, no matter how minor they may seem.
Oda's experience highlights five symptoms she ignored, attributing them to everyday inconveniences like constipation or tight clothing. By the time she was diagnosed in 2021, the cancer had metastasized, making her battle more challenging. Her journey serves as a cautionary tale, urging others to advocate for their health and seek medical advice at the first sign of trouble.
The 5 Overlooked Warning Signs:
Changes in Stool Shape: Oda noticed her stools became consistently thin and pencil-like, a possible indicator of colon narrowing caused by a tumor. She initially assumed it was related to constipation.
Blood in Stool: While spotting blood, she attributed it to hemorrhoids, a mistake experts caution against, as blood in stool is a classic early symptom of colorectal cancer.
Incomplete Bowel Movements: The persistent sensation of needing to go, even when her bowel was empty, was another symptom she dismissed as a result of constipation. This condition, called tenesmus, is linked to colorectal tumors.
Unexplained Pain: Oda experienced pain near her lower right side and believed it was caused by a tight bra. In reality, it signaled the cancer had spread to her liver.
Chronic Fatigue: Extreme exhaustion, despite adequate sleep, was another symptom she ignored, attributing it to pandemic-related stress. Fatigue is a common result of cancer's toll on the body and blood loss due to tumors.
Each year, colorectal cancer affects approximately 150,000 Americans, and the number of younger adults diagnosed continues to grow. Oda's story is a reminder that recognizing symptoms early and seeking prompt medical care can make all the difference.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question👇👇👇
The Oort Cloud is a vast, spherical shell of icy objects surrounding the outer reaches of our solar system, thought to be the source of long-period comets. It extends from about 2,000 to 100,000 astronomical units (AU) from the Sun, far beyond the orbit of Pluto. This distant region represents the remnants of the solar system's early formation, containing trillions of icy bodies that can be disturbed by gravitational interactions, sending comets toward the inner solar system.
For more information, visit NASA's page on the Oort Cloud.
