Remembering the Unseen: Wake County’s Homeless Memorial
Wake County hosted its annual memorial for those who died homeless, honoring 46 lives with a ceremony featuring roses, candles, and chairs to symbolize dignity and remembrance. Held on the winter solstice, the event underscored both the challenges of homelessness and the hope for brighter days ahead.
This year marked a significant improvement, with fewer deaths compared to the 75 recorded last year. Initiatives like the Bryant Center and the Cornerstone Service Center have bolstered resources, while opioid settlement funding has expanded critical services.
Despite these strides, leaders stressed the importance of continuing the fight to end homelessness, envisioning a future where no lives are lost to life on the streets. Read Full Report

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
Oranges are traditionally placed in Christmas stockings in the United States, a practice that became popular during the Great Depression. At a time when fresh fruit was a luxury, oranges symbolized wealth and generosity. The tradition is also tied to the legend of St. Nicholas, who is said to have given gold coins that later inspired the orange as a representation of prosperity and good fortune.
