Healing in Nature’s Embrace: The Vision Behind Peace in the Peaks

When Robin Browning relocated to North Carolina in 2020, she envisioned more than just a change of scenery—she sought to create a space for transformative healing. With Peace in the Peaks, her trauma-certified personal development coaching business, Robin offers a distinctive approach to self-discovery: blending evidence-based psychological techniques with the restorative power of nature.

As a survivor of domestic violence, Robin’s work is both deeply personal and profoundly impactful. Drawing on over 500 hours of specialized training in neuro-linguistic programming, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and trauma-informed practices, she has created a safe space for clients to explore their core wounds and unlock inner strength. Her mantra is simple yet powerful: "Nature always speaks—I’m here to help you listen."

Since its inception during the pandemic, Peace in the Peaks has grown from one-on-one coaching sessions to include group nature retreats that transport participants from the demands of daily life into the healing embrace of the outdoors. These retreats, held in serene locations like Wrightsville Beach and Blowing Rock, are designed to reconnect individuals with themselves through mindfulness and guided reflection. Robin’s structured programs, beginning with 90-day coaching cycles followed by retreat opportunities, are a testament to her belief in the transformative potential of inner and outer exploration.

Though only three years old, Peace in the Peaks has already made a nationwide impact. With plans to expand her retreat offerings in 2025, Robin continues to refine her mission: to guide clients toward freedom from anxiety, fear, and limiting beliefs, using nature as a co-facilitator in their journey toward lasting peace.

For those ready to embark on a path of healing, Robin offers not just a coaching program but an invitation—to pause, breathe, and truly hear the lessons nature has to offer.

Vaping's Hidden Costs: Study Uncovers Serious Health Risks

A recent large-scale study reveals that vaping significantly increases the likelihood of developing chronic lung diseases, with exclusive vapers facing a 30% higher risk than non-users. Dual users of vaping products and traditional cigarettes more than double their risk, compounding the dangers of both habits. While e-cigarettes are often touted as harm-reduction tools, they remain a gateway to nicotine addiction for many teens, with 75% of teenagers having tried vaping compared to only 8% of adults.

The study builds on earlier concerns about vaping’s acute health effects, such as EVALI, a condition linked to THC-laced vaping products that caused numerous hospitalizations and fatalities. Particularly at risk are construction workers exposed to toxic substances on the job, for whom vaping could amplify existing vulnerabilities.

As regulations on vaping products tighten, including raising the legal purchase age to 21 and restricting flavored cartridges, the industry faces an uncertain future. However, the study highlights a critical takeaway: while vaping may pose fewer risks than smoking, it is not a safe alternative. Read Full Report

Over 50 and Single: Why Older Women Are Rejecting Marriage

An increasing number of women over 50 are opting out of marriage, citing financial independence and the desire to protect their assets as key reasons. As women continue to gain economic power—through higher education, leadership roles, and parity in earnings—they are rethinking the risks associated with marriage.

Many older women have experienced the financial challenges of divorce or widowhood and are wary of repeating those struggles. Legal complexities surrounding estates and retirement benefits also contribute to their hesitation. While past generations viewed marriage as a societal expectation, today’s financially secure women are choosing companionship without legal entanglements.

This trend reflects a broader cultural shift, with older women redefining their lives on their own terms. By prioritizing financial autonomy and self-fulfillment, they are embracing independence as a valid and rewarding path, proving that love and marriage are no longer inseparable. Read Full Report
