Moose the Beagle Finds Healing and Hope After Hurricane Helene
Moose, a beagle from Lake Lure, North Carolina, endured unimaginable loss and trauma when Hurricane Helene claimed his home and the lives of his owners. In the storm’s aftermath, neighbors cared for him even as they struggled with their own hardships.
But Moose’s ordeal didn’t end there; he suffered a brutal attack from wild dogs, leaving him in critical condition. His fate took a hopeful turn when Triangle Beagle Rescue intervened, and he was placed in the care of Tara Lynn, a foster mom who helped him through his healing journey.
Under Lynn’s care, Moose slowly began to recover, shedding the shadows of his former life and regaining his playful spirit. His resilience touched the hearts of many, and after four weeks, he was adopted by a loving family near Asheville.
Now, Moose enjoys simple pleasures like napping in the sun and exploring his new home. His story serves as a powerful reminder of the healing power of love and the significance of second chances, offering inspiration to a community still recovering from the storm’s devastation. Read Full Report
Election Suspense in NC: Thousands of Provisional Ballots Await Count

Every vote counts. Top two candidates separated by only 5 votes.
North Carolina's election results remain uncertain as thousands of provisional ballots are yet to be counted. This year saw a significant increase in these ballots, driven by the implementation of the new voter ID law and the disruptions caused by Tropical Storm Helene.
Provisional ballots are used when voters face issues such as appearing at the wrong precinct or lacking required identification. Election officials are now working meticulously to determine the eligibility of each ballot, a process that involves detailed verification, before the final canvassing on Friday.
While the overall results for many races are not expected to change, some contests are extraordinarily close. In Senate District 18, for instance, only five votes separate the candidates, and in Swain County, a county commission seat race has a margin of just 16 votes.
The final tallies of these provisional ballots could potentially alter outcomes or lead to recounts. As election workers continue their efforts, the state waits with anticipation to learn the official results and the potential impact on key races. Read Full Report
Beware: Flood-Damaged Cars May Hit NC Markets After Hurricane Helene
In the wake of Hurricane Helene, which caused significant damage in western North Carolina, Attorney General Josh Stein has issued a consumer alert about the potential sale of flood-damaged vehicles. CARFAX estimates that approximately 37,200 cars may have been compromised during this hurricane season, raising concerns for used car buyers.
To avoid purchasing a vehicle with hidden flood damage, experts recommend looking for signs such as wet or damp carpet padding, musty odors, condensation on windows, rust in unusual areas, and mismatched interior components.
Although the Attorney General’s office has not yet received reports of flood-damaged vehicles linked to Hurricane Helene, officials note that complaints often emerge months after major weather events.
Consumers are encouraged to take precautions, including checking a vehicle’s title history and seeking a professional mechanic’s inspection before finalizing a purchase. Any concerns or suspicions can be reported to the North Carolina Attorney General’s Office. Read Full Report

Brazil is the world's leading producer of coffee, a title it has held for over 150 years. The country’s ideal climate, diverse growing regions, and expansive plantations make it a powerhouse in the coffee industry, contributing approximately one-third of the global coffee supply. From the lush highlands of Minas Gerais to the rolling fields of São Paulo, Brazil produces a wide variety of coffee beans, including the popular Arabica and Robusta varieties, which are exported worldwide.
