Courage Completes Dramatic Comeback Against Kansas City
The North Carolina Courage pulled off a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory against the Kansas City Current at WakeMed Soccer Park on Sunday, with goals from Cortnee Vine and Brianna Pinto electrifying the home crowd.
The win, witnessed by 6,003 fans, marks the Courage's fourth victory in their last five matches, pushing their season record to 9-1-8 and moving them up to fifth place in the NWSL standings. The team continues to show resilience, remaining unbeaten in 18 consecutive home games since April of last season.
Despite trailing after Temwa Chawinga’s goal for Kansas City, the Courage quickly responded with Vine’s equalizer and Pinto’s stoppage-time winner, both scored after a weather delay halted play for over an hour.
The match highlighted the Courage's fighting spirit and determination to defend their home turf. Up next, the Courage will travel to face San Diego Wave FC on September 8, aiming to extend their strong form.

Saving Grace Animal Rescue Marks 20 Years with Community Celebration
Saving Grace Animals for Adoption, a leading animal rescue organization in Wake Forest, recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, drawing significant community attention. Around 500 people attended the event, which not only introduced potential adopters to the dogs in need of homes but also spotlighted the severe overcrowding issues facing North Carolina's animal shelters.
With around 300 animals currently under its care, both on-site and in foster homes, Saving Grace continues its mission to support rural shelters that struggle with limited resources and lack of access to affordable veterinary care. The organization’s efforts have been particularly impactful in eastern North Carolina, where such resources are scarce.
Meanwhile, the Wake County Animal Center in the Triangle area is experiencing its own capacity challenges, currently housing nearly 600 animals.
To mitigate this issue and avoid euthanasia, waived adoption fees through September 1. North Carolina's high euthanasia rate—ranking second in the nation—highlights the urgent need for continued support and advocacy from organizations like Saving Grace. Their ongoing work underscores the importance of community involvement and expanded access to compassionate animal care. Read Full Report.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
The sperm whale holds the title for being the loudest animal on Earth. Capable of producing sound at up to 230 decibels, the sperm whale's vocalizations can be heard for miles underwater. These sounds, which include clicks and other noises, are used for communication and navigation in the deep ocean.
The clicks are especially crucial for echolocation, helping sperm whales locate prey and navigate the dark depths where light doesn't penetrate. This incredible acoustic ability is essential for their survival in one of the planet's most challenging environments.
For more detailed information about sperm whales and their remarkable acoustic abilities, you can visit the MarineBio Conservation Society website, which provides comprehensive data on various marine species.
