Dine and Dance Under the Stars at Good Hope Farm's Annual Fall Event
Good Hope Farm is gearing up for its annual fall event, which promises a memorable evening of farm-to-table dining, live music, and scenic exploration on September 21 (5:30—8:30 p.m.).
Guests will be treated to a gourmet meal prepared by Chef Jacob Boehm of Snap Pea, featuring locally sourced ingredients and accommodating various dietary preferences, including meat, vegetarian, and gluten-free options.
Alongside the culinary delights, the event will offer locally brewed beers and ciders, creating a full-fledged farm dining experience. Live music by Andy Eversole Music will set the tone for a night of dancing under the stars, while guided tours of the farm will provide a closer look at the sustainable practices that underpin the farm's operations.
The event supports Good Hope Farm’s ongoing efforts to foster food security and nurture new farmers in the community, with all proceeds going directly toward these initiatives.
Guests should be aware that parking is unavailable on the farm's historic grounds; instead, a complimentary shuttle service will be provided from Good Hope Baptist Church.
For those requiring ADA accommodations or with specific questions, the farm’s management team is available to assist via email. With its blend of gourmet cuisine, music, and community spirit, this year's event is set to offer an unforgettable evening under the stars. Get your tickets here.
Cary Environmental Symposium Aims to Inspire Civic Engagement and Tree Planting Efforts
The Cary Environmental Symposium, held at the Cary Art Center from September 4 to October 9, invites the community to engage in a series of events designed to spark conversation and action around critical environmental issues.
The symposium begins with a presentation by Larry Zoller, president of the Wake Audubon Society, discussing the alarming decline in bird populations. This series, organized in collaboration with Trees for the Triangle, will offer a variety of presentations, performances, and discussions focused on the challenges impacting our air, land, and water, as well as their effects on the local and global environment.
The event aims not only to educate but also to motivate attendees toward active involvement in environmental advocacy. Guests can receive a free Longleaf pine tree seedling, supporting local reforestation, while supplies last.
All proceeds from the symposium will go toward Trees for the Triangle's mission to plant 50,000 trees by 2050, furthering its commitment to enhancing the region’s ecological health. Tickets are available online, with details provided in the event descriptions. Get tickets here.

Editor’s Note: I had a fun chat with Kay Miller from the Cary Garden club. Here are two things to know: 1) the club meeting is open to all, even in you live in Morrisville, Apex, etc. 2) She’s open to the idea of hosting Saturday workshops. Here is the official Cary Spotlight Reader poll to test interest in this idea.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
Kangaroos are unique in that they are unable to walk backwards. This limitation is due to their large tails, which are used for balance and support, and their muscular but inflexible hind legs.
These legs can only move forwards, which is highly efficient for forward hopping and provides the power and speed kangaroos are known for. This anatomical setup, while limiting in terms of backward movement, is perfectly adapted to the kangaroo's need for rapid and energy-efficient forward motion across the vast Australian landscapes.
For more detailed information about kangaroos and their unique physical characteristics, you can visit the Australian Government's Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment website.
