Splash into Summer: Cary's Water Features Offer Relief from the Heat

Cary's collection of water play areas offers a refreshing escape from the summer heat, providing residents and visitors with various options for cooling down and engaging in fun activities.

The Jack Smith Park features the town’s first splash pad, equipped with seven engaging water features and catering specifically to children under 12. Open from mid-May until September, this facility operates daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., depending on the weather. It also closes once a month for maintenance, and visitors can check the current operational status via Cary's Weather Delays & Cancellations webpage.

Downtown Cary Park is also set to enhance the local landscape with its new splash pad, aligning with its nature-inspired playground known as The Nest. This addition aims to provide an interactive and imaginative play environment, mirroring the wonders of nature. For those seeking a more subdued experience, Cary has established misting stations at Neighborhood Park on Carpenter Fire Station Road and Marla Dorrell Park, perfect for a quick cooldown. However, due to potential occasional outages caused by maintenance, weather conditions, or repairs, visitors are encouraged to confirm the availability of these facilities on the town’s website before planning their visit. Apple's $1 Billion RTP Hub Stalled, Awaiting Green Light

Three years after announcing plans to build a $1 billion East Coast hub in Research Triangle Park, Apple's project remains in limbo, pending further action from the tech giant.

Local stakeholders like Wake County and Duke Energy have completed preliminary work and are ready to proceed, but the project's advancement hinges on Apple's next steps.

The hub is expected to be a major economic boon, with plans to create at least 2,700 jobs with salaries (minimum of 133,000 dollars a year) well above the local median, in a new facility comprising up to 682,000 square feet of office space.

Recent documents suggest a possible construction start in 2026, and the project must meet certain job creation criteria to fulfill grant conditions.  Read Full Story
