Cary Police in Pursuit of Suspects Behind Spree of Residential Burglaries

Cary, N.C., has experienced a worrying trend of residential burglaries, with 12 reported break-ins stirring the local community into heightened alertness.

These incidents have unfolded since the start of the year, with the Cary Police Department identifying two young men as the main suspects. These individuals reportedly favor the cover of daytime and evening hours for their illicit activities, specifically targeting homes while residents are away.

The method of operation involves forced entry through the back of these residences, with the perpetrators making off with valuables such as jewelry and cash.

In their efforts to evade capture, the suspects are thought to be using a blue Toyota Corolla and a blue minivan. In response, the police are calling on residents to keep a watchful eye and report any behavior that raises suspicion, as they work to curb the wave of burglaries afflicting the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cary Police Department at (919) 469-4012 or Cary Crimestoppers at www.p3tips.com/1242 for anonymous reporting options or call (919) 460-4636.

In Raleigh, North Carolina, Joe Anthony Jr., 57, has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Dorothy Smith, 50, following a reported altercation that led to her overdose and death in a wooded area.

On a late Tuesday evening, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office was summoned to a distressing scene in the woods of Fayetteville Road, where Dorothy Smith was found unresponsive in a tent and subsequently pronounced dead.

The investigation quickly focused on Joe Anthony Jr., Smith's boyfriend, with whom she had earlier engaged in a physical fight.

Navigating Misconceptions: The Role of Awareness in Racial Healthcare Disparities

A recent study spearheaded by Vanessa Volpe at North Carolina State University examines how the understanding of racial disparities in healthcare access influences Black and white Americans' self-assessments of health.

Utilizing data from a comprehensive health survey, the research identifies a correlation between awareness of healthcare inequities and self-rated health outcomes.

For Black individuals, being aware of these disparities is associated with reporting poorer health, a testament to the stress and burden such knowledge entails. On the other hand, white individuals who incorrectly believe they are at a disadvantage also report worse health outcomes, indicating the harm of such misconceptions.

The study points to the need for both improved access to healthcare for Black populations and accurate information dissemination among white populations to foster a more equitable healthcare system. Read Full Story

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇

Gold Spouses Day is observed annually on April 5. We honor and grieve with the families of lost or wounded military service members. Often known as Gold Star Wives Day, this day has now become inclusive of all family members — male or female — who have lost loved ones through service in the military. This day lets these affected families know that we remember their sacrifice, and honor their loss. Remembrance ceremonies are held, and there are “remember the fallen” road races in their honor.

Thank you for giving us our flowers!
