Free Carolina Circus Festival Returns to Downtown Cary Park
Downtown Cary Park will transform into a circus playground on Saturday, Sept. 12, when the Carolina Circus Festival returns with a full afternoon and evening of performances, workshops and family activities.
The free event runs from 3 to 10 p.m. and will feature aerial performances, ground acrobatics, fire acts, LED entertainment, interactive circus workshops, local artisan vendors and food trucks.
Now in its sixth year, the Carolina Circus Festival is organized by a nonprofit that promotes creativity, collaboration and mental health awareness within the movement community. The event also works to raise awareness around suicide prevention.
Families can watch professional performances throughout the day, try circus-related activities and explore vendors and food options across Downtown Cary Park.
The festival is open to all ages, but it is not a drop-off event. Parents and guardians must remain with their children for the duration of their visit.
Accessibility accommodations are also available through Downtown Cary Park for guests who need additional support.

Cary Residents Demand Action After Fatal Ederlee Drive Crosswalk Crash
ary leaders and residents met Tuesday to discuss the future of a crosswalk on Ederlee Drive where a 76-year-old pedestrian was killed two weeks earlier. A 49-year-old driver now faces multiple charges related to the crash.
The road is state-maintained, and NCDOT plans to install a pedestrian hybrid beacon in October 2028. The signal would require vehicles to stop when activated by a pedestrian.
Residents, however, are pushing for action sooner. Ideas discussed included reducing the 40 mph speed limit, relocating the crosswalk or potentially eliminating the crossing at its current location.
Recent police enforcement has also highlighted speeding concerns. Officers issued 42 citations during several morning enforcement periods in early September, including 33 speeding tickets. Cary officials are now considering what additional safety measures could be implemented before the planned state upgrade.
