A&T Four Honored in 64th Anniversary of Historic Sit-In Movement
Sixty-four years after the A&T Four—Joseph McNeil, Franklin McCain, Ezell Blair Jr., and David Richmond—initiated a sit-in at a segregated lunch counter in Greensboro, North Carolina, their courageous act was celebrated at their alma mater.
The commemorative event attracted hundreds, including university officials, students, and community members, who gathered to honor the legacy of these young activists.
Through speeches and a wreath-laying ceremony, attendees reflected on the significance of the A&T Four's actions and their lasting influence on subsequent generations.
The event not only paid tribute to these civil rights pioneers but also served as an inspiration for young people today to recognize and exercise their power to effect change. Read full story
Special Gas Savings This Weekend at Harris Teeter's New Triangle Locations
In a bid to celebrate the grand opening of its new gas stations in Raleigh and Durham, Harris Teeter is rolling out a significant discount on gasoline for Triangle residents.
Over the weekend, customers can avail themselves of a $0.40 per gallon discount, making it an opportune time for motorists to fill up. The promotion will extend into the next week, albeit at a lower discount rate of $0.20 per gallon.
The Raleigh station is located at 7310 Creedmoor Road, and the Durham station at 7115 NC-751, both offering extensive service hours and the convenience of 24-hour purchases using credit or debit cards.
This effort is part of Harris Teeter's extensive network of over 70 fuel centers across multiple states, demonstrating its ongoing endeavor to deliver both savings and convenience to its customers. Read full story

After overcoming an early-season struggle, they now stand second in the Metropolitan Division, closely chasing the first-place New York Rangers. A significant factor in their ascent has been the outstanding performance of their special teams.

Pickleball Slam 2, airing exclusively on ESPN, is set to dazzle sports fans with a unique blend of tennis prowess and pickleball excitement.
Scheduled for February 4, the event will see tennis icons Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, John McEnroe, and Maria Sharapova, alongside pickleball standouts Jack Sock and James Blake, compete in a series of matches at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Florida.
The tournament features a grand finale with a $1 million prize, pitting McEnroe and Sharapova against Agassi and Graf. Commentary by ESPN’s Chris Fowler, Andy Roddick, and Michele McMahon, with Camryn Irwin courtside, will enrich viewers' experience, with a reairing scheduled for February 6 on ESPN2. Read full story

Bessie Coleman was an early American civil aviator. She was the first African-American woman to hold a pilot license. She earned her license from the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale on June 15, 1921, and is the earliest known Black person to earn an international pilot's license.
