North Carolina is under a winter weather advisory as it anticipates a diverse storm this Saturday, which is predicted to bring snow, freezing rain, and predominantly cold rain across the state.

NC Insurance Companies Push for Steep Rate Increase

Insurance companies in North Carolina, represented by the North Carolina Rate Bureau, are seeking an average rate increase of 42.2% for homeowners' insurance, with the most significant hikes proposed for coastal regions.

This move could nearly double insurance costs in counties like Brunswick and Carteret. In contrast, central areas like Durham and Wake counties could see a 39.8% increase.
