Vacation in Greece

Greece Beckons: A Haven for History-Loving Seniors

In Greece, the allure of ancient civilizations and breathtaking islands beckons senior travelers seeking both adventure and tranquility. As they explore the Aegean and Ionian seas, the myriad of Greek islands offers more than just a picturesque escape; they provide a tapestry of history, mythology, and vibrant culture that resonates deeply with those in their golden years.

Among these islands, Santorini and Mykonos stand out as serene destinations. Here, seniors can bask in the warmth of local hospitality, enjoying the iconic vistas of blue-domed churches against the backdrop of sunset skies. Yet, Greece’s appeal extends beyond its islands. Historical sites like the Acropolis in Athens offer a tangible connection to the past, while Delphi invites visitors to wander through ruins that echo the oracles of antiquity.

For those considering longer stays, Greece is marked by a favorable climate and a lifestyle that celebrates leisure and simplicity. The affordability of living and tailored services make it an attractive retirement option. Specialized tour operators in Greece cater specifically to the needs of older travelers, ensuring that their journeys are comfortable and fulfilling.

The optimal times for senior tourists to visit are during the shoulder seasons—April to June and September to October—when the weather is inviting, and the tourist crowds are thinner, allowing for a more relaxed exploration of Greece’s timeless beauty.

RDU to Florida: Breeze Airways Adds Sarasota and Daytona to Its Route Map

Breeze Airways, a low-cost airline, is further cementing its connections between North Carolina's Research Triangle and Florida, announcing two new direct flight routes from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU).

Starting November 22, travelers can fly nonstop to Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport in Southwest Florida on Mondays and Fridays. Additionally, beginning February 13 next year, a new route will open to Daytona Beach International Airport, with flights scheduled for Thursdays and Sundays.

These flights will be operated using Airbus A220 aircraft. This expansion builds on the airline's recent launch of direct flights from RDU to Palm Beach International Airport, which began in June and operate on the same days of the week using Embraer 190 aircraft.

The addition of these new routes brings Breeze Airways' total direct connections from RDU to six Florida destinations. Following the airline's expansion, Breeze relocated its operations from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 at RDU in April. Tickets for the new flights are available for purchase via the airline's website.
