Historically, the segment overall has had attractive appreciation and low correlation to stocks.*

Masterworks targets works featuring legends like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso, identifying what they believe to have significant long-term appreciation potential, not just at the artist level but at the level of individual artworks.

NC Drivers Face Record July 4 Gas Prices

North Carolina drivers are paying the highest Fourth of July gas prices on record, even after modest declines at the pump in recent weeks. Gas in the Raleigh area is averaging about $3.51 per gallon.

Higher fuel prices are not expected to deter holiday travel. AAA forecasts more than 2.3 million North Carolinians will travel at least 50 miles during the holiday period, with more than 2 million traveling by car.

Many families are continuing long-standing holiday traditions despite increased travel costs, though some residents say higher gas prices are causing them to reduce or postpone trips.

AAA advises travelers to expect heavy traffic leading into the holiday weekend, with Thursday expected to be the busiest day on the roads.

Cary Area Residents May Hear Warning Sirens July 1

Residents in Cary and across southwestern Wake County may hear outdoor warning sirens Wednesday morning as Duke Energy conducts a routine test of the Harris Nuclear Plant emergency alert system.

The test is scheduled between 10 and 11 a.m. on July 1 and will last between five and 30 seconds. All 85 warning sirens located within the plant's 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone are expected to sound.

The sirens are tested regularly to help ensure the emergency notification system remains operational. Officials emphasize that the test is routine and that no action is required from the public.

Canada Makes History as World Cup Knockout Drama Begins

The 2026 FIFA World Cup entered its knockout stage this past week, delivering dramatic finishes, historic milestones, and major off-field headlines across North America. From Canada's breakthrough victory to Brazil's last-gasp escape, the tournament is quickly heating up.

  • Canada reaches new heights: Co-hosts Canada earned their first-ever men's FIFA World Cup knockout-stage victory with a dramatic 1-0 win over South Africa in Los Angeles. Stephen Eustáquio scored the winner in the 95th minute, sending Canada into the Round of 16 and drawing a record 8.2 million peak Canadian viewers.

  • Brazil escapes Japan: Five-time champions Brazil survived a major upset scare against Japan in Houston. After falling behind early, Casemiro leveled the match before Gabriel Martinelli struck a dramatic 95th-minute winner to secure a 2-1 victory and keep Brazil's title hopes alive.

  • Cape Verde captures the spotlight: Tournament underdog Cape Verde, a nation of roughly 525,000 people, completed a remarkable group-stage run to reach the knockout rounds. Their reward is a blockbuster Round of 16 showdown against defending champions Argentina, making them one of the tournament's feel-good stories.

  • Saudi Arabia faces fallout: After finishing last in Group H with just two points, Saudi Arabia crashed out of the tournament. The disappointing campaign led to the immediate resignation of the head of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation.

  • FIFA takes disciplinary action: Away from the field, FIFA revoked the tournament credentials of Paraguayan broadcaster Jorge "Chipi" Vera after an expletive-filled on-air rant directed at FIFA President Gianni Infantino and match officials. Although Vera later apologized, FIFA upheld the ban for the remainder of the tournament.

With the Round of 16 now underway, the race for the 2026 FIFA World Cup trophy is becoming more intense, and the tournament continues to produce unforgettable moments both on and off the pitch.
