Crash Expert: “This Looks Like 1929” → 71,105 Diversifying Here
Mark Spitznagel, who made $1B in a single day during the 2015 flash crash, warned markets are mimicking 1929. Seems extreme but we did just see the worst quarter for the S&P since 2022.
So it’s not so surprising that Vanguard and Goldman Sachs forecasted 5% and 3% annual S&P returns respectively for 2024-2034.
Late last year, Apollo’s chief economist Torsten Slok put it this way: "expect zero in return in the S&P 500 over the coming decade."
Almost no one knows this, but postwar and contemporary art appreciated 10.2% annually with near-zero correlation to equities from 1995–2025 overall.*

Cary Ranked Among America’s Best Places to Live for 2026
Cary earned another major national distinction after being ranked the No. 11 best place to live in the United States by U.S. News & World Report. The annual rankings evaluated communities nationwide based on factors including affordability, quality of life, job market strength and health care access.
The report highlighted Cary’s strong local economy, lower unemployment, high household incomes and shorter commute times compared with similarly sized cities. The town also continued to perform well in measures tied to livability and long-term value.
The recognition further strengthens Cary’s reputation as one of the fastest-growing and most sought-after communities in North Carolina. Local officials pointed to the town’s continued focus on planning, services and community investment as key reasons residents continue choosing to move to and remain in Cary.
Other nearby communities also appeared in the rankings, including Apex, Raleigh and Chapel Hill, though Cary remained the top-ranked town in the state.

Cary Releases FY 2026 Third Quarter Report
Cary has released its FY 2026 Third Quarter Report, offering residents a detailed look at the town’s major projects, financial performance and community initiatives from January through March.
The report, presented during the Town Council Quarterly Meeting, outlines continued progress on several high-profile efforts tied to Cary’s long-term planning goals, including infrastructure improvements, public safety investments, downtown development and sustainability programs.
Among the most notable updates was the extension of the popular Chinese Lantern Festival through 2034, securing one of Cary’s signature cultural events for years to come. The report also highlighted the opening of the Cedar Street Parking Deck, which added 300 parking spaces to downtown as the area continues to grow.
Town officials also pointed to public safety and recreation improvements during the quarter. The Cary Fire Department earned its sixth accreditation, a distinction held by only a small percentage of departments nationwide, while new eco-counters and greenway striping were installed to improve trail safety and collect better usage data across Cary’s expanding network of paths.
Financially, the report showed revenues and expenditures remaining in line with the adopted budget through the third quarter of the fiscal year. The quarterly publication, which has been issued for nearly a decade, is designed to provide residents and Town Council with regular updates on Cary’s operations, spending and strategic priorities.
Residents can review the full report and watch the Town Council Quarterly Meeting recording through Cary’s quarterly report page: carync.gov/quarterly.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
A: Amperes
Electric current is measured in amperes (often referred to simply as "amps"). The unit is denoted by the capital letter (A). It is defined as the rate at which electric charge flows through a point in a circuit, with (1 \ampere) equaling (1 \coulomb) of charge passing per second. To measure it, you would use an instrument called an ammeter.
Since power is defined as the product of current and voltage, the ampere can alternatively be expressed in terms of the other units using the relationship I = P/V, and thus 1 A = 1 W/V. Current can be measured by a multimeter, a device that can measure electrical voltage, current, and resistance.
