Ritmo Latino Festival Returns to Downtown Cary This Saturday

The Ritmo Latino Festival will return to downtown Cary this Saturday for its 22nd year, bringing a full day of Latin American music, dance, food, and cultural programming to the Town Hall Campus. The free event runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is organized by the Diamante Arts & Cultural Center alongside the Town of Cary.

The festival has become one of the Triangle’s best-known multicultural events, featuring performances from bands, dance groups, and fitness performers representing traditions from across Latin America and the Caribbean. This year’s entertainment includes Orquesta K'Che, Los Guanajuatenses, Letal Rock Band, folkloric dance groups, and Zumba.

Beyond the stage performances, attendees can browse handmade goods in the Artist Village, sample Latin American cuisine from food vendors, and bring children to the KidZone for interactive games, arts activities, and cultural experiences.

Road closures and public transit detours will be in effect throughout the day on Saturday around downtown Cary, though free parking will remain available in nearby public decks and lots. For more information, visit Ritmo Latino.

High School Girls Can Explore Firefighting and Leadership at Camp Ignite

Credit: Town of Cary

A FREE camp created to build the confidence & character of high school girls while introducing them to the Fire Department & other public services.

Camp Ignite is returning this summer with a weeklong program aimed at introducing high school girls to careers in firefighting and public service. Hosted by the Cary, Apex, and Morrisville fire departments, the camp combines hands-on firefighter training with leadership and confidence-building activities.

Participants will learn practical firefighting skills such as hose handling, first aid, and ladder climbing while working directly with experienced female firefighters. Organizers say the camp also emphasizes teamwork, mentorship, and personal growth.

The program is open to North Carolina girls ages 14 to 18 and is offered free of charge. Camp sessions will take place at fire stations throughout Cary, Apex, and Morrisville, with transportation provided from Bond Park.

Applications for the 2026 session close Friday, May 8 (Today!). The camp itself will run from July 27 through July 31. Apply online.
