Explore Cary's Greenways

If you haven't spent time on Cary's greenways yet, spring is the perfect time to start. With more than 100 miles of paved trails winding through wooded stream corridors, neighborhood parks, and open spaces, Cary's greenway system is one of the finest in North Carolina — and it's all free to use. The town has been building and expanding this network since 1979, and today it connects parks, schools, shopping centers, and neighborhoods all across Cary. Whether you want a quick afternoon walk or a longer bike ride that stretches for miles, there's a route here for you.

The trails are paved and mostly smooth, making them a great fit for walkers, joggers, cyclists, inline skaters, and even those using strollers or mobility devices. Leashed dogs are welcome, too — just keep them to the right and on a max 6-foot leash. The system's backbone is the Black Creek Greenway, a 7.1-mile trail connecting Lake Crabtree County Park in the north to Fred G. Bond Metro Park in the south. From Bond Park, the White Oak Creek Greenway picks up and heads west for another 4.8 miles. Along the way, you'll find benches, picnic tables, restrooms at several trailheads, a bike fix-it station at the Old Reedy Creek Road Trailhead, and helpful kiosk maps so you can get your bearings.

Nature is never far away on these trails. The paths follow stream corridors through shaded woodlands, and it's common to spot red foxes darting through the underbrush or herons wading in the creek. This spring, Cary is rolling out new artistic centerline striping along key sections of the Black Creek and White Oak Creek Greenways — both a safety upgrade and a signature visual touch that makes these trails even more distinctive. The greenways are also part of the East Coast Greenway, a trail network that stretches all the way from Maine to Florida, so you're never just going for a walk — you're connected to something much bigger.

Hello, Rome!
Gateway to Ancient Wonders and La Dolce Vita

Welcome to Rome, Italy, a city where 2,000 years of history sit right alongside buzzing cafés, sun-drenched piazzas, and some of the best pasta you'll ever taste.

Getting here from RDU is easy — Delta Airlines, American Airlines, and United Airlines all offer one-stop connecting flights from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) to Rome's Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO) with popular layover hubs including Atlanta, New York, and Washington.

Once you land, Rome's mix of ancient ruins, world-class art, and irresistible food culture will make the journey more than worth it.

Why Visit Rome?

  • The Colosseum: One of the most iconic structures ever built, the Colosseum is an absolute must-see for any first-time visitor to Rome. This is where gladiators fought, and walking through it today lets you imagine the roar of the crowd that once packed this massive stadium — it's a jaw-dropping moment that stays with you long after you leave.

  • The Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel: The Vatican is its own city-state within Rome, and it holds some of the greatest art collections in the world. St. Peter's Basilica is considered the greatest church on earth, and touring the vast Vatican Museums gives you a sense of eternity — capped off by standing beneath Michelangelo's breathtaking ceiling in the Sistine Chapel, a moment that genuinely stops people in their tracks.

  • The Trevi Fountain and the Roman Forum: Rome's historic center is an open-air museum all on its own. The Roman Forum was ancient Rome's main square, filled with ruins and grand arches, while the nearby Trevi Fountain is a Baroque showstopper where tossing a coin is said to guarantee your return to Rome — a tradition too fun to skip.

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
A) web-like patterns of foam that cling to the inside of a glass as you drink

Beer lacing, also known as Belgian or Brussels lace, refers to the intricate, web-like patterns of foam that cling to the inside of a glass as you drink, leaving behind a residue that indicates high-quality, well-brewed beer and a "beer-clean" glass. It is primarily caused by proteins from malted barley sticking to the glass, forming stable residue.

Lacing demonstrates good head retention, which indicates a quality, well-crafted brew. It acts as a visual test for a clean glass. If the glass has soap, grease, or residue, the foam will not cling properly.
