Wake County Police Warn Seniors About Safety During “Water Wars” Tradition
High school seniors across Wake County are beginning to participate in “Senior Water Wars,” a competitive game where students try to spray fellow seniors with water guns, balloons, or buckets to earn points. The activity often unfolds across neighborhoods and public areas as players attempt to surprise one another.
School leaders say the tradition can cause problems if it crosses onto school grounds or school events. Holly Springs High School has warned students that playing during school hours could lead to disciplinary action, including losing senior privileges or being excluded from graduation activities. Officials are also concerned that toy water guns can resemble real weapons and create unnecessary alarm.
Local police departments are also urging caution. Officers say participants sometimes hide in parking lots or bushes while waiting for other players, which can lead to safety concerns. Students are expected to follow traffic laws and avoid behavior that could appear suspicious to residents or police.
Despite the warnings, some parents view the game as a harmless tradition that gives seniors a chance to have fun before graduation, as long as students follow the rules and stay safe.
Just curious…

Study Finds Some Kids’ GPS Trackers May Expose Sensitive Location Data
GPS trackers and smartwatches for children are becoming increasingly popular as parents look for ways to monitor their kids’ location without giving them a full smartphone. Surveys suggest the majority of parents now track their child’s location in some form, often using Bluetooth tags, GPS devices, or connected smartwatches.
Consumer Reports recently evaluated 15 devices to examine how they handle privacy and security. The testing reviewed privacy policies, app permissions, default settings, and how companies store sensitive information such as location data and messages.
While many products offer tools that allow parents to limit data sharing or disable targeted advertising, some kid-focused devices were found to have weaker protections. Issues included a lack of multifactor authentication and unencrypted messages that could create potential security risks.
Consumer Reports recommends choosing devices with strong privacy settings, enabling additional security protections when possible, and openly discussing location tracking with children so they understand how the technology is being used.
Do you track your child’s location using technology?

The Answer to the Cary Spotlight Hook Trivia Question 👇👇👇
A: A skunk
The pungent, sulfur-based odor (thiols) released by a skunk can be detected by the human nose from one mile away. On a windy day, the scent can be carried downwind for nearly two miles. While the spray itself only travels about 10–20 feet to hit a target, the aroma is potent enough to linger in the air and travel over large distances
